I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, 8 channel firewire interface that I use with Sonar (8.5.3 PE) and I've got excellent audio with it. It appears the USB model uses the same preamps so it should also do well.

Focusrite has been held in high regards all the way back to PCI Card recording with breakout boxes. Although I have not used any of their products since the days of PCI Cards I would not be afraid to buy anything they make. I have a subscription to SOS magazine both online and the mailed hard copy and I have never read a bad review on a Focusrite product and SOS in known as the industry standard for reviewing recording equipment and all sorts of electronics products.

...to use instead of an audio card. Plug it into your USB 2.0 port and there.s your audio card plus all the effects and channels. Phantom power for condenser mics etc
