I am playing a show with a backline provided this weekend. Guitar and pedal steel thru the same amp. I requested a twin. Instead, they got three deluxe reverbs. On the rider they list them as "3 fender deluxe reverb 1x12 100 watt tube amplifiers". Confused

Okay, obviously they dont know what they are doin, snce deluxes are what? 22 watts?.
I REALLY dont wanna bring my own amp to this show and I doubt they are gonna get me a twin even tho they said they'd try.

so......if our other guitar player takes one deluxe and leaves me two....what is the best way to maximize headroom and split the signal or slave the two deluxe amps or whatever? am i just using an a/b/y box? or a stereo effect at the chains end? or is there some other better way?

I also have a crate powerblock and someone mentioned using this as a power amp. is this possible with the deluxe reverbs and if so how is the physical connection made?

any suggestions or ideas?
thanks for the help.

A guy I play with will often go out of input 2 of a fender and into the front of another amp. I don't understand how that works but he does it without any problems.

Wouldn't cascading the 2 amps conceivebly cause a "ground loop" problem?

I've done stereo rigs in the past using a Line 6 DL 4 to split the signal. I'd be happy to lend it to you, naturally...

Thanks Jon, i didnt tell you I broke down and bought one of those? I use the looping function quite a bit and love the reverse delay so i dont regret it other than it makes me want to get a serious looping pedal.

That rv7 goes stereo out too.

They manned up got me a twin and an ac30 too. Winking

Id still like to know about the crate poweramp thing tho for future reference tho. Dan T you out there? whats the physical connection like for that?

That PowerBlock has two 1/4" outputs on the back for speakers I believe. All you need is a coupe of speaker cables with a male 1/4" plug on one end and a female on the other to connect to the DR's speaker lead.

I carry a PowerBlock and speaker jumper cable with me to all gigs just in case.

probably, but:
1. its buried on my pedal board and the jacks are no longer accesible
2: I place some effects after the vp (delay) and some before (distortion)

I think it would be pretty safe. Most DRs use the C12N 50 watt Jensen, a fairly forgiving speaker. I doubt if you would be diming the Crate PB anyway.

I've gotten so I never trust backline amp promises. Best to bring your own amp if you can. So what did you end up doing? Deluxe Reverb into a mic?

Hey Ben, just saw this.

I think the pair of Deluxes would work great, too bad they didn't come through. How I would use the PowerBlock in this situation is buy or borrow a THD Hotplate (or something similar) that would go between the Deluxe amp and the speaker. This gives you a line level output. You take the output from this as the input to the PowerBlock, and they power another speaker with that. I wouldn't recommend using the Deluxe speaker, you would definitely risk blowing it.
