Little Red hen -Thursday night the 1uppers Jon Hyde on steel. excellent trad country in our only real-ish honky tonk bar.
also thursday night at the Sunset tavern-United States of Americana book release with Co-Birds unite and Mark Pickerel. Not sure if there will be steel, sometimes Jon Rauhouse plays with those cats. not sure if he's in town or not for this one.
Saturday is reverb fest bands all day and night, mostly rock bands, but at the tractor or conor byrne you might find some alt country with steel. Jay Kardong on steel with Massy Fergeson (sp?). Im playing that fest too but its with a rock band(with steel)
You'll just miss Dave Harmonson with Zoe Muth , they play the 12th.
The guy to try and see is Dan Tyack, he is amazing, but doesnt update his webiste with his gigs so no clue if he's playing or not. Maybe he'll chime in here. If he's playing, drop what you're doing and go see him.
have fun! |

theres also this place, they say they have a showcase second sunday of every month from 1-6, which would be within your time frame i think, but their website is not big on giving any details and I've never been so i dont really know what goes on there. Its on the north edge of seattle, but easy access.

All ya have to do is aX! Buddy Griffin, one of DC's foremost pedal steel player, was working at Nick's, just outside of DC, last weekend. In fact, Nick's booked country band's will mostly likely sport a steel player but not all classic country muZac selections. I have worked Nick's, err, been beatin up badly there with Bryant Lythicum's band. Bryant grew up hangin out with Danny Gatton which is sorta why I don't advertise my appearance. He is such a musical gentleman but awfully hard to follow or play before his solos. He simply works me to no end, really, I can't wait until the next time we pick together. James Hann's band, Brandy Stills, works in N VA. You'd really like his group as they have an excellent mix of dittys complemented by his superb steel playing.

I'll be at The Owl and Thistle Thursday night downtown 808 Post Ave 10-1. (It's gonna be a pretty ragged band I predict so Jon at The LRH might be advised)
Sat the 9th I'll be with Knut Bell and the Blue Collars in Burlington WA about an hour north of town at The Varsity Inn 9-12. Knut does quite a few originals and has a big Waylon and Johnny Cash influence in his tunes.
Sun the 10th if you can make a drive down to Tacoma I'll be at Lady Luck's Cowgirl Up(14114 Pacific Ave. S. Tac. WA) with Shotgun Red Hildreth from 4-8 hosting a Country jam. Shotgun is a Tacoma legend 83 years young and still plays as good a country guitar as anybody around. He was playing with Buck owens in 1955. It'll be a great band with his son on drums who sings like a bird and a bass player who is also a great singer.
Sat afternoon there's a soon to be new club hosting a free social from 4-7 with a good band Tom Bennett and the Rolling Blackouts. No steel player but fine musicians playing real country. The club is called Cold Cold Heart at 300 Dexter ave N. near downtown. I don't think they have a sign yet but it's at the corner of Dexter Ave n and Thomas street. I won't be able to make this one. I've got a bluegrass gig in Carnation Wa in the afternoon.
Ben, I'm not slated for the show with Zoe on the 12th with Fred Eaglesmith. She's doing that one solo. I've been trying to talk her into letting me play a few on the acoustic, though. _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |

Just looked at The Little Red Hen schedule and see that The Wild Turkeys are playing Fri and Sat. As the name would suggest they're a bit on the rowdy side, but they have a fine steel picker in Pat Tennis. _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |

Stu, Chris has been playing with Eric Tindstad, but I don't think they're playing anywhere this week.
I've got a fun show coming up Nov. 5 with Chris on steel and me on guitar doing a Gram Parsons tribute night. Been working out songs with Chris for the last couple of weeks. Boy howdy he is sounding mighty fine on his new to him Emmons. That show is going to be a blast. Jon Hyde is also one of our guests for this one. I'll put out some reminders later for the Seattle area guys. _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |

Brian,
Not sure where you're staying but our band Tupelo is at a neighborhood dive in West Seattle called "Poggies" on Friday starting at 8pm. 4717 California Ave SW. No cover charge. Mainly Americana with a little country and a bit of blues and originals.
We're working with a new vocalist Erin Sterling who sings her a** off.
(Looking forward to the Gram Parsons deal in November, and hearing you all pick, including Chris Middaugh. I didn't know he still played.) |

The Gram tribute night is going on Nov. 5 (Gram's birthday) at The Conor Byrne in Ballard. I've put a band together with Chris Middaugh on steel, Greg Nies, who plays in Zoe Muth's band with me on drums, my son Jesse on bass and vocal, Bill 'Jed' Jedrzejewski on rhythm guitar and vocal, Gaye Winsor (who sang with Chris for many years in the Sky Boys)on vocals and me on guitar, dobro and vocal. Our guest singers are Jon Hyde and David Russell from The One Uppers, Tom Bennett from the Rolling Blackouts, Tom Parker from The Starlings, Rick Ravenscroft from The Gospel Honkies, and Kirk Reese and John Brodin from Dysfunction Junction Bluegrass Band.
Should be a big night. It's been a blast just getting these tunes ready with Chris and all. _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |
