In a recent post there was a comment about steel guitar in country music, also about country musics present state(confusion).I just did a fill in job about a week ago and after I set up I noticed the keyboard player had made a nice chart for the mostly original songs.I told him that I didn,t think he would need the charts as most of the songs would just go from D to C to G and that most of the covers would also.As he flipped through his book he said I was right. The melodies over these chords were veryclose from song to song also.Anybody else notice this trend or is it just in the south. Also the bass, drums and keyboard overplayed all night and the singer played electric rhythm as loud as my leads.I did not go back.I almost forgot the theme of most of the songs. My dog died,I,m out of beer,my wife's ugly. PS my wife just mentioned the singer was also flat and sharp all night |

Jerry That Band could be booked solid for the next two years here in Missouri. Do they need an agent? |

Jerry,I am so glad you mentioned this,I played a wedding two weeks ago and the band played Can't You See,The Waylon song about the Rose out in the Garden, and some Hank Jr. song in a row that all had those changes, and they were all in the key of D.I turned to the guitar player and said You do realize that all of those songs were pretty much the same,he said chill we haven't got paid yet. _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... This problem seems to plague all musical styles, not just country.

You guys crack me up. So "on the money".
I just played an outdoor wedding her VT. Had to visit my car and start the heat on three occasions to keep my fingers moving. 80's rock pop tunes were a requisite. Decided not to play the steel at all but my tele on 10 instead. Massacred every tune. People ate it up. WTF? Money was good. |

I don't reckon you stayed long enough in the south, dude. You gotta be in the club to learn the important chords ; some new chords have been created since you left. My favorite one is F 1/2#b , usta to bug the heck outa the telecaster operator in our group.

Found it...
Hopefully Tom Bradshaw won't mind a discussion about this snippet from his long out of print book. The chart is priceless.
