Thanks so very much for your kind comments and for being out there listening to "Swingin' West." It will be my sincere pleasure to meet you at the PSGA show next month.

I got a call from a listener in Canada a couple of weeks back to tell me that he will be at the PSGA weekend next month. Yesterday, I received a call from an Internet listener in Israel that will be there. This will definitely be a "World" event.

As I read all you guys talking about the show in Norwalk I have to admit that Bob Maickel deserves all the credit you are giving him, and more! He puts on a first class show and I always enjoyed the times that I played on the show. I was entertaining the idea that I would go this year. I am always aware of the weather as it can be possible to hit some some ice or snow between St. Louis and Norwalk. Strange, it hasn't happened as yet. I will be getting home from Japan on November 8th and was thinking that it might take a lot of my body to go to the show but I see that Joe Wright is going to be there and he gets home in Nashville on the same date. He might be flying up..I don't really know. If I could find someone to pick me up at the airport and take me back I would consider coming. I am not on the show but if I promised Herby Wallace I would pay for his steak dinner (and it is really his turn!) maybe he might let me play "I Can't Help It" with him. Just a thought. Scotty

I myself would still like to thank you for all you and the board members have done for me. It made my wife very happy during her final days
If you can make it,maybe someone can pick you up at the airport.

Scotty, good to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words. I've told you time after time, that you have a standing invitation for our annual PSGA Show. We'll re-arrange the schedule if you care to do a short set.

FYI, It is my understanding that Joe Wright is driving to CT from Michigan, since he is flying to Japan and back out of Detroit. He has an appointment to take care of some business for his mom in MI after the Japan trip.

Since Chuck's Steak House in CT is one of my favorite restaurants, I would be happy for you to sit in on my set if you buy me a steak, and I will be easy on you and just go with the "side man's" steak which is of course the chopped steak, but it is excellent at Chuck's.

All seriousness aside I do hope you make it this year.

This will be only the 3rd PSGA show I'm attending. Each year I've tried to work out the entire show. This year I'm happy to say I have made a reservation at the hotel and will be attending both days.

I'm really looking forward to all the great players and friends I've started making.

I'm looking forward to the show this year and doing my part on the staff.
It will be nice to hear Jody live again after all these years.
Least let us not forget the great officers of the PSGA, Bob, Jeff, John & Darlene who without their dedication it would not have lasted all these many years.And to Mike Gross for doing his well deserved MC introductions for many of those years.
Also to the best backup band players you'll ever want to hear anywhere.

I'll be driving down from Albany and the cost
of fuel is expensive,I dont think I can afford to dine at Chucks Steak house. Is there a McDonalds in the area??

Greg: McDonalds is directly across the street from the hotel. Herb Remington ate there (and they did not know who he is), so it can't be all that bad, however if you speak spanish you will be treated like a good ole ranchero. Been there, done that, for 10 years. They're good folks in Norwalk. We publish a list of restaurants in the area, which will be available at the show. Since Greg Sullivan asked the question about restaurants/fast food establishments in the Norwalk area, here's what's nearby:

Here’s a list of Norwalk, CT, restaurants near the Doubletree Hotel (the Hotel DOES have a full-service restaurant). On weekends they should have a breakfast buffet available.

ITALIAN FOOD:

Pasta Fair - 690 Post Rd. Turn Right exiting Doubletree hotel. Restaurant is on left hand side of Post Road just after McDonalds & main intersection. Approximate distance: 1/4 mile. Tip: Reasonably priced meals, good food, all you can eat pasta dishes. The Pizza is OK.

Post Corner Pizza - 847 Post Road. Left turn exiting Doubletree hotel. After four traffic lights, restaurant will be on right side corner. Approximate distance: 2 miles Tip: Very crowded from 6:00 pm on, very family oriented.

Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizzeria - 54 Post Rd. Left turn exiting Doubletree hotel.
Restaurant on left hand side after traffic light. Approximate distance: 1/4 mile. Tip: Very good food, not just pizza, moderately priced, noisy atmosphere. Gets crowded from 6:00 pm on/family oriented.

FISH:
Red Lobster - 154 Post Rd. Left turn exiting Doubletree hotel. Restaurant on left hand side after traffic light. Approximate distance: 1/4 mile. Tip: Good seafood, moderately priced. Sometimes noisy surroundings. Crowded from 6:00 pm on.

STEAK:
Chucks Steak House- Post Rd., Darien. Left turn exiting Doubletree hotel. Restaurant on left hand side after you go thru Darien business district and under I-95 highway overpass. Approximate distance: 2 miles. Tip: Very good food moderate to expensive prices, excellent service, cocktails available. Crowded from 6:15 pm/Salad bar. All the pro steel players eat there.

FAST FOOD:
McDonalds- Post Rd.
Right turn exiting Doubletree hotel. Restaurant on left hand side Approximate distance: You can see the golden arches from the Doubletree and it's within walking distance of the hotel (Herb Remington ate there).

Dutch’s - 306 Post Rd.
Left turn exiting Doubletree hotel. Restaurant on left hand side. Approximate distance: 1/2 mile.

American Steak House - Post Rd. (John Hughey has been known to eat there)
Right turn exiting Doubletree hotel. Restaurant is on right hand side across from Home Depot. Approximate distance - 1/4 mile.

DINER:
Post Road Diner- Post Rd.
Right turn exiting Doubletree - Restaurant on left hand side across from Stop & Shop on right. Approximate distance - 2 miles. Tip - Don't look for swift service, but they have good food at Diner prices. Very small.

Silver Star Diner - Post Rd.
Right turn exiting Doubletree hotel. Restaurant on left hand side after Stop & Shop on right. Approximate distance: 2 miles. Tip: Pricey for Diner food. Very large restaurant.

Fine Dining:
Sono Area (South Norwalk) - various fine dining restaurants all in one block in an historic area. Right turn exiting Doubletree hotel. Drive about 1.5 miles, after passing Stop & Shop, on the right. Make a right turn at I-95 North sign. Go over highway bridge & make a left onto I-95 North. Get off I-95 at the first exit - Exit 14. Make a right at end of the ramp and stay straight for 1/2 mile. Go thru the main intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd. Continue straight under low, old metal railroad bridge. After the railroad bridge is Washington Blvd. - There are several free parking lots in the area, but they fill up fast at dinner time. Bon Appetite!

I think I'll go down four days ahead of time so I can eat at all the places Bob listed. All except McDonalds. Believe it or not , we have those up here in Maine also.

Jody I can answer that one for Merle Record. Yes they have a Wendy's and they have some of the finest restrants in the world for the best Sea Food. Best Lobster in the world beleave me I lived there all last year. We here in R.I. are waiting for Merle record and his Neice DeeDee to have a Steel Guitar Show at DeeDee's Silver Star night Club up there in Mechanic Falls Maine.What a beautiful place for a Steel Show. It has a balcony 3/4 of the way around that hugh hall and it is all beautiful Knotty Pine including the Sealing.
See you all at the Norwalk Show in November. I will see if my Wife will pay my way in as My Birthday is the 27th of November.Ha
