I've had this ?Vega double neck for a while. I bought it several years ago with the intention of restoring it, but I never got around to it. I recently tried to sell it on Ebay, but I couldn't get a bid nearly high enough for me to let it go. So, I have decided either to restore it or redo it completely.

I would like to make this thing look really pretty, if I can. The pickups work and I will use them if I like the sound.

The question is: What sort of finish should I use? Should I redo it in what appears to be the original black color or should I go for something much different? I'm seriously thinking about using Grover Imperial tuners.

I'm open to suggestions. Here is a link to a previous thread about this instrument.

That would look great in a white crinkle finish.

I would choose gloss black. I re-did a single neck a few years back, black with a wide white stripe on each side, just like originally finished. Actually I converted it to a seven string too.
It appeared to be made of gum wood, which used to be common in the early 20th century, but rarely seen now.

Sure looks like a Vega to me, might be a re-finish too. If it were me, I'd strip it down and see whats underneath, there may be some nice wood under there worthy of a natural finish or burst of some sort.

Here is a web site you might like to visit. There is a whole lot of info about finishing, glue types, and more.

Good luck with the project,
Ron
