Will,
FWIW I have been watching stringmasters on Ebay and craigslist for a while. The high price recently paid on Ebay for a T8 was $885 for a '54 longscale blonde. The later models seem to go for between $550 and $800, with blondes going for the higher prices. Many T8s have been listed for sale in the $1k and up range, and I haven't seen any actually sell. The D8s are getting higher prices as a general rule.
There was a mint condition, black T8 that sold on this forum for around $1800 recently however.
In the end, the price is up to what the buyer will actually pay. It is a great time to be a buyer, for sure.
My $.02

I beg to differ on that. A more reasonable price, IMHO, is double that.

I agree! The final selling price for Stringmasters on eBay is way down now. They're selling for about 70% of what they sold for a couple of years ago. I was shocked to see that blonde T-8 go for only $885 the other day. I've seen other low selling prices on eBay lately... below book value. It looks like the 2011 book will have a some changes. Winking

A Q8 went for $1200 2 weeks ago! There's yet another T8 that will be ending soon too. Let's see what that goes for.
If you think that Fender steel prices are sad, look into Gibson console Grandes...
