Peter Cooper has released the "Lloyd Green Album"
I just bought it on Itunes. Great Peter cooper songs with Lloyd doing the backup.
Very enjoyable.

What I wouldn't give to be at that CD release party!

Bruce, thanks for starting the thread, I'll order it tomorrow when I'm fresh so I don't repeatedly punch in the credit card incorrectly, it's getting pretty late out here.

You can listen to all the songs on the Red Beet Records site:

http://redbeetrecords.com/?id=15632&inc=7&album_id=1391

If you only have time for one, listen to the song made famous by Emmylou that she co-wrote with Rodney Crowell, "Tulsa Queen." I had to listen to it twice.

Words do not suffice. I am officially freaking speechless. Cool

All-

Just a heads up... I just heard that Lloyd was not going to be able to make the Station Inn gig.. not sure why. The good news is that Mr. Steve Fishell will be covering for him.. and it's also Fish's birthday so I'm thinking expensive presents would be appropriate...

Hope to see everyone at the Station Inn Saturday (Sept 18th) at 9:00 pm....

Regards, Pinky...

Once again, a forum thread has enabled me to experience something joyful I wouldn't otherwise have known about. Got these two CDs on sale from Elderly, and they're just wonderful. Thanks, Bruce!

With so many changes in Country Music, I don't remember having heard something better than Peter Cooper & Lloyd Green and David Peterson's Comin' On Strong, since this drastic change in the music of Nashvile.

Here's a link to buy the disc(s) directly from Red Beet Records. "The Lloyd Green Album" and "Master Sessions". I did not want to download an Mp3 of either of these and could not seem to find a hard copy anywhere except the label. http://redbeetrecords.com/?id=15637&sid=15619
Lloyd's steel is really fine on some previous Peter Cooper and Eric Brace albums too.

This is fantastic news! I loved Peter Cooper's "Mission Door" and feel Lloyd Green's playing made some of the tunes instant classics. Certainly his breaks were classics.

Thanks for the heads up, Bruce.

This is a stunning album. I do a *lot* of gigging backing singer songwriters with no band, and it's great to hear Lloyd's take on this. His 'no wires' performance is the model of creativity. It's also great to hear the full bodied tone of the steel in a recording that is built on the pedal steel. As Bruce is very aware, for most master sessions (or turd polishers, for that matter) in Nashville, the steel has to fit into a track that has bass, drums, percussion, 2-4 acoustic guitar tracks, 2-4 electric guitar tracks, acoustic piano, B3, strings, an uncounted number of synth tracks. Session guys like Bruce and Paul need to use a very bright sound in order to help the steel part break through.

This record is built on Lloyd's sound. I love it.

Ditto to Dan's comment.

I also have been backing up singer/songwriter projects and sometimes as just a duo. Really fun to come up with good parts and have the low and mid sonic range totally open (without any pesky lead guitar players in my way ; - )

Lloyd's work with Peter C sure is so inspiring! I love his parts, the latitude he's given and the live feel of the recordings--so different from the "processed American Cheese" Pro-Tools-ed to death sound on current "country" recordings.
