Hey folks, I'll be on Late Night with David Letterman Friday night November 4th. appearing with Ryan Adams and the Cardinals. If the last time on the show was any indication, I'll be pretty well buried in the mix, but hey, it's a pedal steel on network TV! Jon |

Lyle Lovett was on there a while back. The only reason I knew there was a steel on the show was because they showed a glimps of him once on the camera. I would like to have been able to hear him. Anyway, I will be sure to check you, thats a great gig man.Congrats...James |

BTW folks. The band and I taped an episode of Austin City Limits a week or so ago which, I believe, airs on the 21st of January. I've been told that the steel is way up in the mix. I guess they know what to do with a pedal steel in Texas! |

Thanks for the heads-up, Jon. I happen to be listening to your album right now (Jacksonville City Nights), and I love your touch, tone and intonation.
We'll be looking for you on Letterman and Austin City Limits.

Jon, glad to see you guys getting top exposure. Our band really enjoys playing "Let It Ride", "Excuse Me" and several other Ryan Adams tunes. From the land of "Dreamland Ribs", we bid you good luck. We'll definitely catch you on the show tonight and look forward to the Austin City Limits show. |

When you are listening to live music on TV put those head phones: 1/8" into the TV and you will hear the instruments you have been missing |

If you bump into the live sound mixer,
very nicely ask if you can be heard
" just a little" in the mix this time around.
You might be surprised.
Most of us mixer types just like to please. |

Hey Jon. Just had my first chance to play the tape of this. Hey--sure the steel could have been hotter but it wasn't terribly inappropriate. I could hear it pretty much throughout the song---and as always, let's remember that this isn't a travelling mini steel show, it's RA & the Cardinals--and if someone hit the mute button on your mixer channel you would notice the hole where the steel was so, like, ok. Good job.
So let's complain about something else. I know....tell that boy to get a haircut. And speaking of hair.....nah. |

I just watched the show from my DVR and I thought the steel was mixed very well. As someone stated earlier, the steel player was not the star, he was backing up the star. I thought the steel added a lot to the song. I heard a lot more steel than I did Strat.
