As if this PSGA show isn't shaping up to be one of greatest shows ever.....

Jody and I have been discussing this and we're going to make it happen....

In honor of Leo Fender, Jerry Byrd, and Jody Carver, Jody has graciously agreed to play (in each of his two sets) a couple of tunes on The Jerry Byrd Fender steel guitar that Leo Fender custom built for Jerry Byrd, according to Jerry's exact specifications.

This will be history in the making!

Oh Boy
I had better start trying to play those great
Jerry Byrd licks. I know of NO ONE who has more respect for the late Jerry Byrd. He was an inspiration to steel players all over the world. Thank you Howard Rick, and Jeff. I hope I can do justice to the GREAT Jerry Byrd's unique style and a tone and touch he is known for. Rick come on up ,would like to see you. Jeff you would be welcome at the PSGA.

What a concept!
I can see the line forming behind the Leo Fender Jerry Byrd guitar. Those who are called are many; those who are chosen are few.

Yes, this is the time, and this is the place. This guitar was made to be played by capable hands.

Bobbe, your set is right after Jody's. The guitar is there and set up. By all means.

This gets better all the time.

I always wondered about the video taping situation at this show.
They have great real time,on screen, video coverage of the performers hands and instruments taken from above.
Are these cameras feeding to tape? It would be terrific if videos of these performances were available.

FYI:

PSGA does videotape its events, for archival puposes only, using a simple camcorder, not the Big screen stuff. Due to copyrights, artist royalties and a million other reasons, the tapes are made to maintain a history of our organization's accomplishments. They are NOT for sale or public distribution in accordance with the by-laws of the Pedal Steel Guitar Association Inc. (A Not For Profit Corporation)

Due to several unfortunate incidents at other steel shows many years ago, several name players including the late Jeff Newman, Jimmy Day, Hal Rugg, and others advised they would not perform if anyone (including the PSGA) videotaped their sets.

Our legal contracts with the name players include the guarantee that PSGA will not make public any videos from our archives.

There is quite a difference between taping the show and taping JUST this moment in time. I am sure that a professional could be hired to do this and nothing else. I would stand in line for a copy of this as I am sure many many others would.

Bob Maickel:
I understand legal reasons why you would not (cannot) tape the show. My only thought was that perhaps this one event may not be subjected to the conditions that cause the "No Video" policy to be in effect.....and yes I am with you and not against you. I just find that in general, across the board rules do not necessarily need to apply to everything that they are forced to apply to. All I wanted to do was ask the question. I am just sorry that it was met with such an offensive reply.

Easy boys.
Bob and Ben are both Brooklyn Dodger Fans and so am I. Lets feel bad about 1951 when Bobby Thomson hit that winning Home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off of Ralph Branca. Lets play ball and have some fun please. Peace to both of you.

A BROOKLYN DODGER FAN now and FOREVER.

This PSGA show will be great video taping or no video taping. I'm going to sue the New York Giants for winning the game on a short home run into the left field stands.

At ease, Life is to short. Both Bob and Ben are my friends. and wait there's more.
