I shipped a nasville 400 Yesterday with a JBL in it it weighed 64 LBS packed, the lady at Fedex asked if I shipped a lot,I got thinking, I had shipped several things in past cpl months,if you sign up at Fedex they will give I think a 10% discount,if you use a VISA card another 5% if after you sign up if you print a shipping Label from your Computer it is another pretty good discount I shipped this AMP for 28.00 Including Insurance there is no minimum number of packages you just have to sign up I could have saved about 100.00. I thought you guys should know about this since most Fedex Employees won't offer to tell you, Good Luck hope this saves you Steelers some Dough REA ME.... |

All the discounts in the world aren't worth it when FedEx's Ritalin-deprived gorillas wantonly destroy the package. And they will. And they do. And they have. And it shall be easier for a Session 400 to pass through the eye of a needle than to receive payment on an insurance damage claim.

I have no preference for UPS or Fed Ex. Neither one is better or worse than the other.
But, I signed up for a UPS account through Paypal and it looks like I get "commercial" rates when I ship. One of our forum members was going to ship me an item to be modified and he was quoted $20 by UPS to ship it (he went with USPS for half). When I shipped it back to him I used my UPS account and it was $8. |

I ship steelseats FedEx Ground and get a 30% discount by setting up an account and simply using a credit card. FedEx Kinkos or the actual FedEx locations both work great. The advantages are as follows:
(1) out of about 200 shipments 2 shipments damaged and by the way they were to the same customers.
(2) the clames were settled in 10 days
(3) easy to track - when you ship it you get a tracking number - by the time I get to a computer I can email my customer with not only the tracking number but the expected delivery date
(4) expected deliver dates have been right on except for once that I know of
(5)I can have my shipments for parts, etc sent to me and still get my discount.
(6) if you set up an account - in addition to the discount you get points that can be used for cash cards, Home Depot or Lowes gift cards (plus more businesses), etc
Why NOT UPS (1) is more difficult to track (2) lost one of the 5 if have shipped with them (3) DAMAGED one in 5 (4) still have not even gotten any answer let alone a settlement (5) not near a convient (to me) and not near as many locations
my experience is that the most important part with either is Pack it right - very important PACK IF RIGHT

Actually I just bought a Session 400 from the forum here,it came via Fedex Nary a Scratch I have heard from several sources that UPS will Flat out NOT pay a claim,on the other side of the coin I sold a Banjo on Flea B and it was damaged, this clod shippid it back to me before they could inspect it,but he used Fedex I Filed a claim I had to send a few pictures a week or so later Wa la a Check for almost 800.00 from Fedex. So in addition to saving money I think Fedex is my choice... |
