Hello all! Just bought a Sho-Bud LDG model for what I think was a heck of a deal. About a year ago I ordered a Bruce Bouton instructional dvd, just to see what I would be getting into, after watching that a few times I decided to take my time and really just stick to playing the six string. This thing just sorta fell in my lap, and I haven't stop messing with it since, Love it! Took it down to Albert Johnson in Tallahasse, FL and he gave it the Emmons set-up for me. What a nice man! Thanks Mr. Johnson. Anyway, wanted to say thanks for all the info on the forum.

Oh, one thing, I ordered the Jeff Newman Right Hand Alpha dvd and the PSG Technique dvd. Great dvd's!
Any other suggestions for a total beginner?

You have Right Hand Alpha. A great piece of instruction to get into from the start. Practice it faithfully. That way you learn the right way from the start, and don't acquire any bad habits.
You can't go wrong with any Jeff Newman material - it is the best.
Up From The Top would be another one to get into, as long as it takes you from beginner and on up.

Learn your neck. Practice scales.

Make sure you practice to rhythm tracks as soon as feasible.

Thank ya folks. Any of you guys ever heard of Curtis Gordon? He was country singer who married a friend of mine"s Mom, and has since passed on. I once had the opportunity to hang with him and two pedal steel players just before he died. Probably 10 or so years ago. That was the first time I'd seen a pedal steel in person. One of the guys, I believe, played/worked with Johnny Paycheck. Just curious if any of ya'll might know who they were. I know, it's a long shot, but thought I'd asked. I actually have Curtis's tele at my house. The family wanted me to restring it for them. Very cool guitar. See ya!

Thanks for the info. I really like the BB dvd as well, but I figured getting the "right hand" technique first would probably be better for me. The videos on youtube that Mickey Adams has put up will be a huge help. I'm sure many on the forum have said this before, but THANKS to Mickey for taking the time to share his knowledge. Very cool!
