The way Hawaiians love to make music is done in the back yard, no performance pressure, just a relaxing time together making music at the kanakapila. The Hawaiian steel guitar often becomes a blend of the music rather than featured. And don’t forget to watch the last video, it is nahenahe.

The Hawaiian Steel guitarist in the following video is a well know steel player in the Islands, Uncle Ron Kanahele, who takes a prominent part at the kanakapila. Uncle Ron has in the last few years devoted himself to helping the young people of Hawaii learn to play the Hawaiian Steel Guitar the old fashioned way. He has a lot of aloha and gives it out liberally in his playing and singing.

The steel guitarist in the following video just blends in with the rest of the group. He is not taking a prominent place, but plays a part in making the music enjoyable. The name of the steel guitarist is Uncle Braddah as he is affectionately called in the Islands. I met him about five years ago. He is a great guy and comes to the HSGA conventions in Waikiki to support Hawaiian steel guitar.
