Jayson Bowerman has been working on this for a while and is now publicly announcing his new glass lap steels. Jayson was the luthier at Breedlove who developed the Ed Gerhard Breedlove Weissenborn-style prototype and built about 35 of the first models. He's since set up shop under his own shingle. Check out his amazing glass guitar.Jayson says "The tone is really sweet and as you might guess, the sustain is truly epic. The whole thing vibrates in your lap as you play it. The output is a short pigtail coming out the back of the guitar which hangs between your legs when you are playing the guitar. (Before you PM me with tons of questions, Jayson is your best source for more info. I really don't know any more than is listed here but I'll post the additional pics Jayson sent below. Nice sustain. It has a chimey sort of sound -- but it can be kind of a thin sound too tho. This could be the camera mic. I would like to hear a sample using the other pup option.

Which variation of the Lace pickup was demonstrated?
What kind of amp was used? |

Hi Richard,
In the video I believe they used a dobro pup. It definitely was not the Aluminium Lace (which is an option). The vid didn't show an amplifier that I recall.
