Fellow Forumites, has anyone heard from either Paddy Long or Ivan Posa (or any other Forum members, for that matter), living in New Zealand? I know that Paddy lives in Christchurch, not sure about where Ivan lives. Has anyone heard from either of these awesome steel guitarists? Paddy or Ivan, you guys OK? From across the Ditch, and around the world. Hope your fellows are all right...a word of concern.

Hoping for the best,

Hi everybody. Just an update on what is happening in NZ. Christchurch in the South Island is where the 7.1 earthquake hit and the damage, especially to older buildings has been extensive. Fortunately there has been no direct loss of life, but many homes and buildings have been either destroyed or damaged beyond repair. Paddy left for Canada a couple of days before the earthquake to go to his brothers 50th birthday so I havent heard from him. There have been significant ongoing aftershocks so until this seismic activity settles, authorities wont have a complete picture of the damage.

Hi all, Greetings from Christchurch New Zealand.
We are all so glad that no body lost their lives in this terrible earthquake. The after shocks are quite un-nerving, with many happening during the night, some causing further damage etc, and still are continuing up till now. Thank you for thinking of us here in Christchurch.

Hi Mike
I live in Christchurch. I've just tried to ring Paddy but he may be on his way to Canada. I don't think his area was badly hit. I've spoken to the family of Warren Johnson (Carter U12) who's also away they're OK. We were shaken but not much damage.

Atershocks are still happening (some big) we've just had a couple as I write this. The central city was hardest hit as was some outlying towns. It depended on the type of soil (liquification). We live on the hill on rock. My study contents ended up on the floor (looked like a bombsite). We're just waiting for the after shocks to die down so we can get back to normal.

Those after shocks are still coming. Largest one today was 5.1 magnitude, and it really shook quite abruptly.

Glad to hear Paddy's property was ok, and yours also.
