I see a lot of great steel players playing live with rack mounted effects sitting with in reach, facing up and right along side them Can anyone tell me what might be inside some of these rack cases? Confused

Lots of different "rack" effects such as the old and popular Peavey Profex II, Lexicon's, etc. Also many have a tuner, AC (Mains) power surge suppresor, etc.

Those with "stereo" systems also have power amplifiers in the rack that feed two speakers.

Usually a pre-amp, an effects unit, an amp and then maybe a tuner, power strip/voltage regulator, etc.
At least that's what I have in mine.

Hey, Paul, here's a link to a page from my website explaining my rack set-up with pictures. I've used this for a long while now with great results. Compact, powerful, and versatile.

This is the rack that Buddy Emmons used at the ISGC, St Louis, 2007:

Korg Digital Tuner - DT-1 Pro

Lexicon MXP1 - Multiple Processor FX

Revelation Tube Preamp
