Susan, Thanks so much for posting this. I have been following your music for some time and you are a huge influence on the work I've been doing with PSG/lap steel and 4+8 string mandolins plus sitar, Oud and guitars.
My band does "sci-fi, world, spacerock with spoken word and there are times where robots, space ships landing and alien languages come out from the steel.
Other bands we play with ask about the "samples" and I explain it comes from my steel guitar and susan alcorn's influence. Who broke many of the chains put on steel. Many of these chains are good for keeping country real. But freedom and steel guitar go together. Thank you so much for your work and I really hope I get to see you perform soon.

Thanks for the heads up. I enjoyed the article and, as always, enjoyed the music very much. Steve and Gary posted while I was typing this, so I'll just say another devoted fan here. I hope to get a chance to hear you in person if I ever get back East again. Keep up the good work.

Cool! Thanks for posting this! That was a great interview, I would have asked many of the same questions. I am fascinated by, and greatly admire, "free" music. The videos they added were beautiful. Keep doing what you do Susan.

Congrats Susan. You are finally getting some of the recognition you deserve.
You are one of our finest ambassadors to the world of music that falls outside the usual country and occasional pop genres, and are probably introducing more people to our instrument than the rest of us combined.

Thank you all so much for your encouraging comments. It's really nice to hear, and it's nice to know that your peers are listening - I think that's the most gratifying of all.
As for my copedent, I don't know how to post this easily (though I do have it on a word document). My tuning is (from bottom to top) C-D-F-A-C-D-E-G-A-C-E-D; I use 8 pedals and 5 knee levers.
The electronic effects I use are reverb (I like Lexicon) and a little bit of delay. I have some friends who do fascinating things with loops, etc., but I've never really investigated that. |

Good comment and a good interview. Back in the early '70s, I got a recording of Messiaen playing "The Vision of the Eternal Church, (Apparition de L'Eglise Eternelle) on the organ at the Trinite Cathedral and it's one of the pieces that changed my life. It was included in Les Corps Glorieux on Ducretet Thomson.
