Lloyd Green on the new Dale Watson cd.
Everyone should listen to the new Dale Watson cd
It is called "Carryin'On".
Lloyd Green is on pedal steel and he did a wonderful job.I think he recorded it with his Sho~Bus LDG because the sound reminds me of his earlier records.
Fantastic playing, he's getting better every year and he is nearly 73 years old.

Dale Watson/LLoyd Green
Hey Jack,
I spoke with Lloyd at length last week. The conversation seemed to keep returning to the DW project.
Lloyd is very excited about how the steel came out. He said Dale gave him full control over his work....
LLoyd has told me many times that his favorite work is the Charley Pride live at Panther Hall album, maybe that's about to change????
The Dale W. album is soon to be available at Earnest Tubbs record shop in Ft Worth, and I already have 5 copies on hold...
Cheers...Ronnie Miller
P.S. I get to play Lloyd Green for a living, how great is that???

This album has turned the clock back thank goodness. Steel guitar right up front, great vocals, great numbers and most importantly real country music. I bet Lloyd got a real kick out of playing on this album. Lets hope the recording sets a trend.

I'm a BIG fan of Dale...and this CD is really well done!!! Too well done....I miss Dale's lead guitar
work and like him in his "REAL IDENTITY" as the BEST Honky Tonk singer out there today.
I'll probably buy it cuz it' is good and Lloyd is great...but it's still a little to slick for my taste thought.

Dale Watson's new Cd with Lloyd Green
Ronnie miller: Where have you been hiding; just finally got to hear you backing Charlie on a couple of clips; If not seeing you playing your GFI, I thought for certain it was our buddy, Lloyd, doing the honors; you are the closet I've had the pleasure of hearing the Lloyd Green Style of playing. You are one superb steel picker, ronnie.
Question for Jim Cohen : Do you believe that CD Baby would have this new CD with Lloyd on it/Along with Dale Watson? Your Cd " Cohen goin' country " is on its way to my address as we type..Thanks, Jim..Bernie

It's odd,but I never here Mr Watson on the radio
I hear alot of bubble gum on the two local FM "country" stations. I have NEVER heard Dale Watson.
I guess that's why I hang around musicians,to learn about these kind of artists.

Too _____?
WOW!. Got mine just as I was heading out to a gig. I put it on my Ipod and phone to listen to on my way out. Played it on he breaks for the band and they were stunned. So was I.
It might be too well produced.
The Steel Guitar, Guitar, Fiddle Piano might be too perfectly highlighted, interacting too perfectly with Dales voice..
The "Edge" on Lloyds Steel on the verge of being identified as "Classic Fender" might be a little too fine...
The guitar might be too close to capturing all of the classic country hooks pads noodles and fills from Grady Martin and Leon Rhodes to Pete Wade.. (wait a minute..).
The Vocals might be too "Best I've ever heard" for the songs that might be too perfect...
Too Classic Country?
I'm not scared.
I'm gonna be listening to this one for a long time.
Not just, but again another GREAT Dale Watson Album, and yet another "Post Career" (cough..) triumph for Lloyd Green. Steel Guitar and STUDIO Master.
Gotta run and spend most of my day plugged into my iPod..
EJL
PS. I did spend most of the day listening to the album, and the louder I turn it up, the more everything I was told about the album rang true.
I was telling Kevin Neal, the Portland Guitar player I worked with last night how "Indy Country" is getting to the point where the "Indy" is short for "Industry" and not "Independent".
There aren't any Top Steel players that aren't on XM. There might only be a few that don't crow about it because of the money they rake in on the old "Vanity" stuff.. (Top 40 Country)...
My faves this week listening have been Billy Joe, Floyd Tillman, Bobby Flores, Asleep at the Wheel, and Robbie Fulks. I dunno who Floyd T's steeler is but WoW!.
Anyhow, This is the best album I've gotten in a while.

Saw Dale Tuesday night, awesome show, Dale is soo personable, and makes you feel like family.
The new CD is fantastic, his best yet and that is hard to do, Lloyd is fantastic, I bought the European version cause it had an extra song on it. It doesn't get better than this CD.
I still don't get the fact that Dale is not a major star, but feel lucky to be able to see him regularly close to home and in a very intimate setting. One day the establishment will catch, on or maybe not.
This new CD is an instant classic, just love it, Don Don Pawlak was amazing (live) as usual, don't miss the chance to see them .
