Hey Russ, I'm pretty sure that you are right. The good ole days of jamming till dawn and even on till the next dawn are gone for good.
Most of the younger players come to town to play artist gigs so I guess they spend most of their time playing to CD's at home. Of course there's not a thing wrong with that but they just don't know what they are missing
As far as you never playing one note at gabes it was because you were busy playing a zillion great notes on TV and in the studio. But I'll tell you gabes is as close as it ever came to reliving the 60's and 70's of days gone by.
I have seen 5 or 6 steel players line around the stage with 3 fiddles and 3 guitar players and even a piano player in the mix and that was a floor full. Needless to say that we played a lot of 15 min. songs and we still only got one fill and 1/2 lead ride per song LOL.
I doubt if you remember me but I use to play up in clarksville with your brother Roger and you came up and seen us one night. I guess thats the only time I ever met you.
Well I'll look you up at gabes and introduce myself again and maybe we can pick a song or two

You're right Big Bob. These kids don't know what they missed. Less than a week away. Everybody get rested up.

Teresa, even though I'll be out of town Sunday doesn't mean we can't have a drink together. At 5:PM Nashville time I'm going to have a big ole shot of gold and dedicate it to all my good friends at Gabes. I feel like I lived in Gabes for so many years and made some wonderful friends. Thanks to you and Mike for getting this together. I know everyone will have a big time.
