Great player, Monty Laffon

Post by Albert Svenddal »

Just attended a Gospel Concert in Lebanon, MO with Monty
Laffon on steel in the "live band" backup. It was refreshing to
hear live music instead of tracks which is usually done at Southern
Gospel concerts. His playing and tone was awesome. Got to
meet him after and what a great guy. Plays a Zum SD 10 3X7
through a Nashville 112.

Your absolutely Right Albert, I haven't heard Monty since 1982 on Miss coast , but he was a good picker then.

BTW
His mentor all the way back to the late 70's that I am aware of was Russ Hicks.

Monte is first class all the way. There was nobody around to teach him when we were kids. He earned it and can back it up. God Bless you Monte.

Monty was wayyyy better then most of us local guys in the late 70's-1980's. Now he's really a seasoned musician! Monty, please drop me an e-mail about the Shelbyville gig last week. I'd love to know what I missed. Thanks,D.D.
