Just an up-date for those interested in "REAL COUNTRY MUSIC".
REAL Country Music is alive and well at the "FINISH LINE" , a club on the West side of fort Worth Texas every Tuesday night. The Live Music starts at 7:30, and goes untill 11:30. We play a lot of shuffles, and a great variety of traditional country music from the 40's through the 80's. the band, (COUNTRY NIGHT - LIVE) consists of: Buddie Hrabal on Steel Guitar, Danny Adams on drums, Dale Morris jr. on Fiddle, Billy Martin on bass, and myself on guitar. All of us sing except our drummer. We play songs by Ray Price, Johnny Bush, Mel Tillis, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Mel Street, Bob Wills, and just about everyone else. The crowds have been great, and there is (at this time) no cover charge. Weather you live in the vicinity, or are visiting, and you love REAL COUNTRY MUSIC, you owe it to yourself to check us out.

Ken!.. It was good to see you the other night. Sorry I didn't get to visit with you, or read this post until just now. Yes, I always have copies of my C D with me. (I gotta sell a bunch to pay for my Fender Twin.)
Sorry also we didn't get to do "Tamale Ridge" for you. Come back and I'll make up for it.

Tom, Thanks for your comments. We ALWAYS have a huge crowd, and are starting to see more and more young people listening, and dancing to our OLD country music. If you ever get to come out our direction, I'd be proud to meet you. If you're a steel lover, you will LOVE Buddie Hrabals' playing!!! Huh, Ken??

What a Night!! Boy, oh Boy!.... We had a HUGE crowd, and we kept that REAL COUNTRY MUSIC on 'em all night. The dance floor was full for every song we played, and it is so good to know that there are so many folks that love the GOOD OLD STUFF. We started the night off with "Don't be Angry", then "my shoes Keep Walkin' back to you". We did such songs through the night as, "Faded Love", "Five Minutes of the latest blues", "Big Blue Diamonds", "I've Just Destroyed the World I'm Livin' in", "Silver Wings", 'Fightin' Side of Me", "Crazy Arms", "Lord I Need Somebody Bad Tonight", "Honkytonkitis", "Please don't tell me how the story ends", and so many great country hits, and just some good tunes that wern't hits, but should have been. Everybody picked good, had fun, and I'm already lookin' forward to next Tuesday night at the "FINISH LINE" Hope to see you there too!

Chuck, Thank God for Texas. I'm sure there are other areas in the U.S. where good Country Music is thriving. Unfortunately, the K.C. area doesn't support Country Music in the clubs. I am a weekend warrior and our group focuses on the VFW's, American Legion, Moose, Eagles, etc. within a 100 mile radius. The crowds there are exactly as you described. We play the same type selections you do and they love it.

Gene, When I bought my guitar, I bought it from old man OPPERKNOCKITY....he tuned it for me. I took it back last year, and asked him to tune it again.......know what he said?............................................"OPPERKNOCKITY ONLY TUNES ONCE! Come on out Gene, and I'll let you tune it. Hope to see you there. Joe Paul Nichols will make a guest appearance.

Boy,oh Boy, What a night!! The Finish Line was packed last night. Joe Paul Nichols did a super job, and the crowd loved every minute of it. We were also visited by a bunch of fine area musicians, and singers. Ken Higgins, and Danny Nacaratto represented the Steel Guitar world. It was sure good to see them boys out amongst 'em. Fiddlers, were represented by Anthony Wilson, and Gene Brown - Yes, I tuned my guitar-. Drummer for Billy Keeble, Mike Woodard got up and sang, and also played a set on the skins. Terry Beene, another drummer came out with Joe Paul Nichols. Kristin Major got up and sang as great as always. Ronnie (The Okie) sang also, and it was time to quit before we knew it. We had a large time. Hope to see all of you area "Forumites" there when you get the chance. For what it's worth ..."Country Night... Live" sounded GREAT...IMHO
