My buddy has AOL and I've been seeing this at the end of each sentence in his emails,Â. His name does begin with the letter A but he has no idea what it is and didn't know about it until I brought it to his attention.
thanks, Ron

"Â" is created by Option-i and Shift-A on a Mac. I'm not sure about how it's created in Windows, but it may be a stray "invisible character" used to format text that has shown up? Possibly lost in translation from one language setting to another? Just guesses.

You didn't tell us what email client you are using, so I will have to guess. Knowing you have Windows XP (from previous conversations), you probably use either the hopelessly out-dated Outlook Express, or Windows Live Mail, as your email client. Both allow you to change the language and encoding of both messages you send and receive. The next time you open a message with strange characters, go to the menu item "View" > Encoding and change it to a different code page. One will fix the extraneous characters. You can leave it set at that code system for all incoming messages, via the main Tools > Options > Read section (explore the buttons near the bottom). _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum
