I always enjoyed the production and guitar work in the Bridge Over Troubled Water Album from 1969.
It was a happy surprise a couple of years ago when I found out that most of that was Fred.
Don't know where I heard it...but I believe he played three or four guitar parts on "The Boxer".
Rest well, Fred.
You had more admirers out here than you knew. |

Thanks Michael. My head doesn't seem to be screwed on backwards. You'r right, i'm wrong, again. {But I mean well}. When you pass that 80 year mark, 1 and 1 doesn't always add up to 4 or 5. Thanks for setting it straight. "Little" Buddy. _________________ "Little" Buddy |

I'm very sorry to hear about Fred's passing. He was raised in North central Louisiana where a lot of uncles and cousins(also musicians) grew up and also played with him. I had an opportunity about 30 years ago to be a part of his backup band when he played a local club here in Baton Rouge. He was a very gracious person that night and a wonderful musician.
thanks,
Billy |

I had the pleasure of seeing Fred a couple of weeks before he passed. We had a great chat and talked about the old Nugget studios which he owned and I worked there for several years.
He was an absolute genius in the studio and was one of the first "country" guitar players to venture out of that field. His work with Simon and Garfunkel is legendary as well as with the hundreds of other people whose sessions he played on.
Musically I learned so much from him which has helped me to become a better player.
RIP Fred. You will be missed. _________________ Mark T
