It's been awhile since I posted anything featuring Quebec's premier steel picker. Here's one I hadn't seen before. A real 'tour de force' by Jean Guy and the whole band.

Bill, Thanks! Talk about world class musician. I can't get enough of this picker! More, please, if there are some new ones.
The whole ensemble is great..from the singer to the fiddle player..in fact the whole band is tight as can be.
After listening to this, nobody's gonna tell me that French-Canadian country is not par or above. It mattered very little that I couldn't understand the words.

As an aside...What type of RH blocking is he doing? It was so fast and subtle but I felt it was both palm and pick blocking.

Glad you enjoyed it Bent. I'm not sure about the blocking but it's probably a combination of both. I know he can go like a scalded cat when he lets loose. And you're right about the caliber of the rest of the band, they're all top notch. These vids are all from a weekly t.v. show ( just playing in re-runs now ) with a house band, Patrick Norman as host and guest singers from all over Quebec and the 'acadien' population of the maritime provinces.
The fiddle/mandolin player, Ray Legere from Nova Scotia has really gotten around. He's toured with Tony Rice and he's played the Grand Ol' Opry and Carnegie Hall.
