I have been playing a National Tri-cone, Multi-Kord, and a Regal Dobro for a while and now have just added a ZB Custom student and a ZB Custom E9th, C6th with 9Pedals 3 Knee Levers.

The Dual Neck is supposed to have been used by Zane Beck and Tom Brumley and looks like it may be a prototype for the later models. It only has a single horn on the headstock. The pickup on the E9th neck isn't stock. It looks like a Jerry Wallace pickup. I'll be seeing Jess Hurt tonight and he knew the last owner. He may be able to tell me more about it. The Knee levers and the first 3 pedals operate the E9th neck and the remaining 6 pedals run the C6th neck. Now all I have to do is learn how to play these things.

Welcome Tom. Pick Jess' brain. He knows a bunch about steel guitar.

Welcome! Beginners like you and me can benefit a lot from the folks who frequent this forum. Seems like just about every time another beginner asks a question around here, I learn something. There are well seasoned pros hereabouts who gladly and generously share their knowledge. You have come to the right place.

Whoa! Are my eyes deceiving me, or does that ZB have just 9 strings on the back neck?

No, the necks each have 10 strings although it had a missing string when I got it. I'm waiting for the new sets ordered from this site to see what that E9th neck really sounds like.
