The Michigan Steel Guitar Association will be hosting it's first annual summer steel guitar show this year. The show will be held on Sunday, July 31st, from 1:00 p.m. till 12:00 midnight at the Harrison Moose Lodge. You don't need to be a member of the Moose to get in for this show.

This year we will be featuring Herby Wallace, and Mike Sigler. We will also have many of Michigan's top steel players there performing, as well as other players from surrounding states, (Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc.)

We've got a great line up for this show as well as a few distributors that will be here with many steel guitar related items.

As most of you know, we normally have our annual steel guitar picnic around this time, but this year we thought we would bump it up a notch for you and offer a show for you. We're really looking forward to seeing all of you here.

There will be a cover charge of $15.00 per person for this event. For more information, please send email, or call 989-539-4715, or Marilyn at: 989-366-0005.

Danny-
I'm so glad you posted the announcement of your upcoming show of the Michigan Steel Guitar Association.
I usually scour the posts on SGF to find out about shows that I can promote. I've added it to the line up at www.steelguitarshows.com
I'll also give y'all a plug on the weekly Steel Guitar Calendar on SteelRadio.com.
Keep us on the invite list for any shows or jams in your area!

Danny-I am sorry that I will not be able to attend. I would like to see Herby and all the guys again.

If it was in Grand Rapids, as it is close by, I would have been able to attend...al

Wayne. We're really looking forward to having you here and playing on the show this year. I know many others are looking forward to it too. Regarding the snow, the extended forecast shows no more than 6 to 12" here in late July, so just lock er in 4 wheel drive and come on up. :-)

Al, we're sorry to hear you can't make it to the events here again, but we do understand your situation.

Most of the motels are now sold out around the area, so it looks like we're going to have a great turn out, and definately a lot of fun!

Danny...Good luck with the show! I know what it is like to do your "first" one. We just had our second show and it was much better than the first. Hope your crowd is great and will be even better the following year!

I know I'm looking forward to the show and it will be a big honor to have both Herby and Mike in Northern Michigan. These guys are two of my favorites, for sure. It looks like we'll have a good turnout from the Advance Ticket sales. Michigan's a great place for a mini vacation this time of year so come and join us.

P.S. My buddy, Mike Sigler, may play faster than I can, but I still think I can out eat him!

The Michigan show had an absolutely fabulous turn out, and the ballroom stayed packed right up to the end. Mike and Herby put on a stellar performance, and received many standing ovations! Wayne Hetzler and his wife also did a fantastic job, and his wife has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard! They put on a really fantastic show for us. The staff band also did an excellent job backing everbody, and played everything perfectly that was presented to them, no matter how difficult the material was. Indeed, a steel players dream on these kind of shows! A very special thanks to all of our Michigan Steel Guitar Association members for their dedication and support, and for the great job they did performing for us at this show! Everyone wants us to put on another show like this next year, and you can bet that we will. Smile

Well I have been meaning to add a reply to this, but I am finally just getting around to it. Those of you that missed Danny Hullihen's show in Harrison, MI certainly missed a great show. Of course knowing Danny as I do, I knew going in that the show would be first class and it was. I think Danny is already planning an even bigger show for next summer, so keep an eye out as info becomes available.

Also, I wanted to mention that my buddy, Danny is playing the ISGA Convention is St. Louis this year which is a great honor. If you are there, be sure to catch his set which is on Sunday.
