I think he tuned it straight up to E. All strings.

Beautiful, ain't it?

Hey Dan...
I think he might have had a string tuned to B in there...5th string maybe.
In the middle of a SHIAB set, they would break into "Yellow Bird" instrumental. It was very surreal.

btw, I was at that gig in the pic...at the Bla Bla.

Yes, correct; the key of the band was E, and due to ambiguity of mode I eliminated modal degrees from the guitar by loosening strings until each was a tonal degree.

It's time for you guys to get back together. Mabne you could play at the convention, or Dallas or Phoenix.

He even plays bassoon...with a special mute.
Bassoon? Isn't that the "Ill Wind that No One Blows Good?"

Seriously, my feeling is that Doug is probably the most knowledgeable musician on the Forum, certainly the most literate. An awesome player and quite a personable young man as well. :)
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

I never realized it before, but I wear the same exact outfit as his "Severed Head" stage outfit while here at home. On stage I simply add my Beatle Boots. 8)

Whoa, whoa, time out.

Carbondale, IL? Sounds like a lot of Forumites came from the Prairie State back in the day.

Was the photo that Chas posted photo-shopped? What is that thing on the steel player's head? Is that the Severed Heads band? The guitar player looks like the guy from Blue Cheer.

Is that a jockstrap on the steel player? Tighty-whities?

WTF?

No, it's not Photoshopped. That pic was taken years before Photoshop existed.

I don't know what Doug/Earnest called that thing, but I sure he came up with good name for it...

And they might have been tighty, but I'm not so sure about the whitey...

And I agree...Doug is a unique individual. He may be from another planet. And I mean that in a good way...
My hat's always been off to him.

When I played with Severed Head in a Bag, I wore an outfit that completely freaked the audience out on the 'New Wave Theatre' (a low budget TV show where I made my debut and final performance with the band):

I wore a cowboy shirt with pearly snaps, black pants, and white patent leather cowbow boots (a remnant from my gig with Jean Shepard). The folks there looked at my like I was a freak.

Dan, how they ever pegged you as a freak is completely beyond the realm of comprehension!! What... and I repeat WHAT... could they have been thinking?

Yes Jay,

I have "Coming Out Of Hiding". I got to cut it from the rest of the songs on that side and then upload to Picosong, so hang around and I should have it here pretty soon.

...another great FG song. :)

Thanks Chip.
I used to have the album but it disappeared.
How about those harmonies, pre-auto-tune.

Yeah Jay,

Super vocals&harmony; arranging; lyrics; instrumentals - I don't think you could say there is even 1 filler song on the entire album.

Well-composed songs.

...and of course DL/EB leading the charge. 8)

Is it Doug Livingston playing? Is this the reason you posted it?
I'm asking because on "Captured Angel" it is Al Perkins.
