Erv, I received the Hawaiian Songs I set with CD backing tracks yesterday. Thanks so much for getting it to me so fast!! I started playing through "Beyond The Reef" and "Harbor Lights" and have to say this is GREAT STUFF! You really did a fine job tabbing all of this out, the moving chord melodies are really beautifully done. Thanks again. I'll be ordering Part II very soon.

Erv, I have both your backup tracks for Hawaiian songs and tabs. However, there's one song called Drowsy Waters which the rhythm track sounds good but I do not have the tab for it. I was just wondering if you have a tab for that song and if so let me know how much it costs and I will send you the money. Also, these backup tracks are really, really good. Thanks. Lee

Lee,
I can't help you out on that one.
When I did the tabbing on these Hawaiian songs, I went back to my old Oahu music and some old song books I had. I am not familiar with the Aloha Waltz.
I'll keep my eyes open, though.
Erv

PS: Lee, check your mail. I found the song you were looking for.

I don't know if you have looked over my list of Hawaiian tabs lately but I just recently added "The Aloha Waltz" and "Coconut Grove" to the collection. :D

I'm presently working on "Adventures in Paradise" and "The Moon Of Manakoora" but not sure when they will be ready.

I don't think you could really call it Hawaiian, but I just tabbed out the classic "Sleepwalk" by Santo and Johnny.
It's done up for the E9th pedal tuning and it would fit in real nice in a Hawaiian set. :D

Lee,
I goofed up.
I sent you some tabs that you already had.
I misread your posting.
Just send back the ones you already have and deduct them from the bill.
Aloha :D

Hawaiian tabs for E9 tuning

Post by Dana Blodgett »

Erv, thanks for the tabs I recently purchased I've gone thru a couple and they look good! I'll probably order a few more in the future. I was wondering If you might have "SAND"? or consider it in the future for E9?
Beyond the Reef and Harbor Lights were great! I like the chordal sounds instead of the single note melodies-sounds "Old school" to me which is good.

Dana,
I will have to give "Sand" some consideration.
I've heard it on YouTube by Jerry Byrd.
The reason my songs sound old school is because that's what I am!!!.
I started on the "Hawaiian" guitar about 60 years ago with a teacher who used to play the Hawaiian guitar on the vaudeville circuit.
The only reason I switched from regular lap steel to pedal is the ability to get full, three string chords. My style is chordal melody.
Glad that you like it. :D

Erv , no pressure about "Sand" I've seen it posted on line here and on the net in C6, so I could transcribe it myself but was wondering if you already knew the song. And by the way it is still very popular in Hawaii!
Aloha nui and Mele Kalikimaka!
