I am having a hiss and hum some where in my sound system and have the Rev pre-amp and TC m350 in there. Brad updated the Rev a while back with new tubes , etc. Getting this where I play weekly and also at home. Thought it may be the ballasts in the lights where I play weekly or the transformer on the power pole in my back yard about 40yds from the house. I moved my Hilton pedal plug in transformer away from the other plugins and hookup cords and did not make any difference. I get no interference when I use my n-112 and dd3 at either location. My cables all test good. I have no controls turned to the extreme. I get this interference playing my Zum or
LG11 like wise. Single coil pups on both steels. The wall plugins test ok , too. Got any ideas??? Jack

I had a hiss and hum when I hooked my laptop into the Peavey board for recording at church. I tried the HUM-X device and it fixed the problem. Also fixed the problem with my Steel with a Truetone and a preamp going into my Vegas 400. It may work for you also. Rich.

Jack,

Out of curiousity, are you using the balanced XLR outputs on the back of the REV, or the unbalanced 1/4 outs? I know my sounds isn't as clean if I use the unbalanced outs. I bought a couple of balanced XLR-1/4 cables and use them to connect to the amp. Does the noise sound like a ground loop hum? Are you getting any radio frequencies?

It is connected just as per Brad's instructions.. He put this complete rack together for me. When I play the steel it is not noticeable or bothersome. Really can not hear it. With the volume pedal all the way backed off and not picking any strings you can hear it. When I just go down on the pedal and not pick any strings, it gets louder. More of a hiss, I guess. I have True tones on both necks. I played a gig tonite and just sounds fine when played. Not getting any radio noise at all. Thanks guys for your concern. Jack

Jack,

Is it different than the usual hum when you press the volume pedal all the way down? I've never been able to completely get rid of that slight hum when I bury the pedal. I heard stories about Paul Franklin putting a sheet of tin foil under his volume pedal at recording sessions to minimize this. Maybe someone will chime in here with some better advice. I'm all ears.

Yes. This might be some characteristics of single coil pickups maybe.
