I would like to find out what year the fender 1000 came out i saw on the internet that it came out in 1952 i have seen 1957 and i have seen 1955 does anybody know for sure.Also how long did they do the 1000 with the metal front and not the black front i have only seen this on the early white ones.When did they quit making white ones.

I have a Fender 1000 serial # 0235 it was dated Feb 1957. I bought the guitar new and I know this info is accurate. The date was penciled in under the front tuner pan and there is also someones initials there.The guitar was the original off white high gloss enamel and it was prone to chip at the slightest touch.I added two knee levers too.
I stripped the old paint and put a finish close to the mahogany that was on the Fender D-8 and D-8 lapsteel guitars of that era.

thanks for posting a link to that website.Did fender stop building the 1000 in 1981 or was it earlier.
