Yes Mr. King, I think that sooner it will be finish. And only because of Mr. Hatton and your help and suggestion.
I don't think this all thing will damage the world of Emmons guitars.
Emmons guitars are good, sound great, and myself I'd like to have one, because I like the sound.
All this mess is only because of a bad communications between a foreign customer and the Lashley. So soon this will be forgotten I think. And Emmons will remain good and great guitars.
The only pity in all this, is the incredible way to run a customer service, with no information, with no explications, with a completly closure by them. And when disperatly asking for a reason why they act this way, they wrote : "WE HAVE FULLFILLED OUR OBILIGATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU HAVE MISPLACED YOUR PEDAL BOARD CONTACT A DEALER AND GET A NEW ONE!
TAKE CARE, THIS IS A CLOSED MATTER... "
What would have you done, been so far, with this kind of answer ?
But as soon as we receive that pedal board "built" by Mr. Hatton, everything will be forgot, I know.
When we have all this peda steel guitar complete, we will put some photos for you all, and this will be I think the most famous PSG of this year. You can stamp picture and put it on your bedroom wall.
I will.

Yes I have no shame. I do own and play a Rains, but I also have an Emmons which I love.Chris, that is really shameless promotion.
In response to the statement "it shouldn't be this hard to purchase a steel" , Rains came to mind first. But there are no shortages of great manufactures of steels that would have handled this much differently and would have jumped through hoops to satisfy the customer.
So to be fair......

I can't wait 'til this thread drifts off the first page so I can bump it back up with a little, yellow, winky face guy.
Phred, Thanks for correcting me. I did assume the person who pointed out how hassle free buying a beautiful, new, fabulous sounding, Rains pedal steel guitar is, was indeed a representative of the Rains steel guitar Co. My mistake.
Side note: Erv, do you really have 8 Emmons PSGs? If so, you obviously don't think that's ridiculous and that's fine. You're well within your rights. But may I ask, what number of PSGs, in your mind, constitutes ridiculousness? 25? 75? 143? More? 419?
In other words, why do you have 8 PSGs? In my little mind 8 is just beyond ridiculous. Sorry.
Surely you don't need all those pedal racks. If you have so much belief in the Emmons Co. why don't you send one of your pedal racks to Ivano and when Ivano gets his from Lashley he'll send yours back. Why not?

Yes Chris, that is exactly what I'm talking about. The way they treat people.
I'm not talking about Emmons guitar that are great, that I'd like to have one for myself, that Erv have 8 of them and never got a problem...I understand everything.
But when a customer after all had happened, write again to you saying that his pedalboard is missing, is that the way to answer ? Me, that I think I'm a normal person (maybe), maybe said to the customer " hey, are you sure you sent it to us ? can you explain us better where did you put it ?" or something like this, I mean normal question to understand, not all that screaming.
Ivano already paid 5000 dollars, what are they afraid of ? Why Ivano have to joke about the pedalboard missing ? He is tired of all this story, he didn't want to add other things. And now he still got problem in having one. Why are they so suspicious ? He is willing to spend other money for it now, why do you think he's not saying the truth, Mr. Lashley ?

Do you really feel that accumulating 8 steel guitars is ridiculous?
I imagine you're critical of all collecting in general, whether it's guitars, coins, art, Coca-cola trays, or Bulgarian Widgets. Because I don't see how someone could logically set steel guitars apart from any other object of value.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, as Jerry Seinfeld would say. You are most certainly entitled to, and I'm sure no one amongst us would disagree, your opinion.
DISCLAIMER: I personally own seven pedal steel guitars.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Herb,
I thought there must be others who would feel there's nothing ridiculous about having 8 pedal steels even if they're all from the same company. (Maybe that's even better to a collector. I don't know.)
To me 3 or 4 is plenty for anyone. That's just me. I have 2 PSGs, 1 reso, 2 ukes, 1 nylon string, one 8 string Hawaiin lap steel, 2 pac-a-seats and 3 amps.
But may I ask the same question of you that I asked of Erv? How many is ridiculous? Really. Please give me a round number and not a philosophy about how with some collectors the more the better and more power to them if that's what they want.
It really blows my mind to know there are people who are more interested in seeing how many steel guitars they can accumulate then they are in seeing how well they can play one. Why?
If I was rich I would probably have more instruments then I have now but I doubt I would have 8 of the same brand of anything. Just me.
A few years ago a friend of mine rented a room in a house in Berkeley from a woman who collects dolls. There were dolls everywhere in her house. She must have nearly 1000 dolls on display through out her place and they were all dusty. It was one of the creepiest places I've ever seen.
Herb, You are certainly one of the absent elite I alluded to earlier (thanks again for the support) but finally someone mentioned something that struck a nerve with you. Collecting. Thanks for surfacing.
So please tell us, what is your take on this problem Ivano is having with the Emmons Guitar Co.? We're all ears...or eyes.

There are lots of reasons or motivations why people collect things, and some of them might be just accumulation; like getting a particular fishing lure in every size and color, or one of every model Martin guitar, or whatever. Other situations might be different.
Personally, I didn't set out to accumulate anything particular, per se. I'm 62 years old and have been buying, trading, and selling stringed instruments that I've played for almost 50 years. I never thought about getting a complete set of anything, just that if a nice instrument at a good price came my way, why not?
I've bought guitars to keep, and I've bought them for resale because I could make a buck on it. I've bought some so I could experiment with tunings, and I've acquired some through trades inadvertently. Some I've loved and vowed to keep to the grave, some I've liked but considered expendable. Things overlap.
So, I would say that no number is ridiculous. I don't see why my personal feelings about ownership should be thrust upon someone else, especially gratuituously.
If a man loves something enough to accumulate it, it's none of my affair how many steels, cars, fishing lures, oil paintings, coins, stamps, Nudie suits, et cetera, he may have. If his desires in no way conflict with my lifestyle, and I don't see how it would, well...more power to him.

Cost
msa CAN COST OVER $6,000.00, i GOT A cARTER ESTIMENT ONCE AND JOHN called me back a wanted to know where I got the estiment? it was from the custom shop, all wood body and the other things I wanted, the cost was way over $5,000.00.
Look up the most expensive Mullen it will supprise you what they cost.
A lot of the first line guitars cost over $5,000.00.
Then again look at the cost of a 1st line amp, from Fender, Ken's is over $2,000,00 and well worth it.
I counted the cosr of a friend.s setup with rack, seat, pedal, tuner, cords, etc, it came to over $10,000.00.
Not cheep toys we play with.
But you can start off for less than $300.00 total if you wish, I did in 1945.

Herb, thanks for your reply.
You must have overlooked the last thing I asked you. What is your opinion of this situation with Ivano Malivasi and The Emmons Guitar company? It does have something to do with collecting. Ivano is trying to collect what he paid for and Mr. Lashley has already collected the full payment. Don

The subject of collecting is not what struck a nerve in me, but rather your not-so-veiled criticism to Erv about how he has too many steel guitars. To have an opinion about collecting in general is one thing, but to single out an individual in a totally unrelated issue is, I feel, disingenous. It seemed to me that you volunteered your disapproval of Erv's guitar collection because he declined to condemn the Lashleys. You also made a statement that reflected poorly on Buddy Emmons, and how Big E got into the matter is beyond me, so please enlighten me.
In answer to your last question, I think it's an unfortunate situation that I hope gets resolved to everyone's ultimate satisfaction.
And not to disappoint you, but I gave all my torches and pitchforks to other Forumites storming the castle, so you'll have to excuse me for not joining the lynch mob. And include Buddy Emmons in your dispensation, if you will. I'm sure E would be grateful.
