I have just got a 'Special 130' and I find that the Bass control is OK and the Mid & Shift are OK but the Treble control seems to make very little difference, and the "Pull for Bright" does nothing. Is this common with this amp being that they are passive controls or is there a fault? I have replaced the chips (4558's) with new ones but that hasn't made any difference. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks Dave. |

I don't what the problem is, but that is not normal for that amp. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Did you get a foot switch with the amp. I was told that you can't change back and forth from the saturation circuit without the switch. |

Yes I have the foot switch. The amp itself is in excellent condition cosmetically. There is no rust on the corners or the fixing plates. I just have virtually no treble control on either channel, clean or dirty and the presence control doesn't have any effect either. I don't really know where to start looking for the problem.

Sounds like there is something definetly wrong. I have one of these and really like it for telecaster. The bright will pierce your ears when working properly. _________________ Carter S10-DB w/E66, Black Box, Hilton, Digitech RP155, Nashville 112 w/burr brown, Nashville 400, George L cables, Steelseat.com, 68 telecaster, Peavey Special 130 |
