Carl Smith
The former HW guitar player with Carl Smith was Sammy Pruitt Enjoyed seeing Carl Smith and Sammy in the early 1960s at the Indiana State Fair Carl wore a white suite and Sammy was his band that day Carl was friendly really in charge knew what he was doing for the fans. Great showman.

Look at those pictures. Look at the outfits. When these people hit the stage you KNEW they were stars. No doubt about it. They didn't come on stage looking like they just crawled out of a dumpster after an eight day drunk with a dirty sleevless shirt and torn jeans. Where did the pride go? Where did the talent go? When these guys sang on the radio you knew the minute they opened their mouths who they were. I can't recognize half the so-called country singers on the air today. They all sound alike except Jones, Haggard, Jackson, and Strait, and even they aren't played that often unless you listen to a "special" oldies station.

Years ago we, as entertainers were advised to dress properly whenever appearing on TV as we would be 'visiting' folks in their living rooms, therefore we should be attired accordingly.
Times and attitudes have sure changed !

Doorstep to heaven
My Grandmother had an Old truetone readio record player I played doorstep to heaven by Carl Smith on it , Carl Smith was my favorite and I was all of 6 or 7 years old,Carl was and will always have been a true star and one of the pillars of real Country Music, RIP Carl everyone will miss you!.
