Hey Folks,
So, I've been playing through a 72 Twin with Webber California's which is pretty much the cleanest set up I could get with my Twin but wanted to try the solid state deal and have come across a mint Sessions 400 for $200. Looks like a great deal. Folks in the know: can you ID this, and/or please convince me this is a good deal. Looks like a limited right, with the one 15". I hear this reduces bass response. Noticeable?

| If it was an original session 400 or an LTD 400, I'd say jump on it. For a session LIMITED, I'd have to be needing an amp pretty bad. |

For $200 you can't go wrong. I still have one of the first batch. I got it around 1982. I've run it up and down the road, broken several knobs off of it and the reverb doesn't work, but it sounds and works great!
The last couple years with the Everly Brothers Buddy used a 400 Limited.

mine 6 years ago for $250.00 still works great...
can't go wrong with a peavey session 400 limted

If I didn't already have three Session 400's, a LTD 400 and a Limited, I'd jump at it. Looks like new.

I've never tried one of these, so I can't remark on their sound. But this model is not like the earlier Session 400 and LTD 400 models. I imagine there is quite a bit of difference in sound. The older Session/LTD 400 has an old school steel sound that is unlike the later Nashville series. Having said that, I guess you can;t go wrong at $200. He might even take $150.

My Experience Only
I used one for a weekend when my '78 Session 400 (the ORIGINAL) was being repaired. It was the most difficult amp to get a natural steel guitar sound out of I have ever used. Harsh and brittle on the top end.
My opinion: there are lots of great amps out there. Original late 70s Session 400 or LTD 400 (same amp -- smaller cabinet) often sell for $250. That, IMHO, is the best deal you will find. Put a post in the Wanted To Buy section.
I went from TWO Twins to a Session 400 in the late '70s and never looked back. I'm back to using tube amps now BUT the Session 400 is in the closet if I ever need it. It will knock the back wall out of a gymnasium and stay clean.
