I came intot his EV speaker recently, but it has no markings (other than the EV on the dustcap). I popped it in my Session 400 and it sounds very good. A bit brighter than the BW1501-4 I had in there, not sure which I like better. Any way to tell by looking what it is? I suppose I could take it to a tech to measure Ohms and power?
Thanks
Dan

Dan,

I believe that is an EVM 15L. It is an OEM version that would have originally been installed by an amp company in a cabinet.

EV left the heat sink looking magnet covers off the OEM speakes as no one would see them anyway. That same model was used by Mesa Boogie, now Mesa Engineering, in their bass cabs. I have encountered several.

You are exactly right Rich, it is either an EVM15L or EVM15B. The "B" was for bass, but I've had both and couldn't tell any difference in the sound. I think I let my 15's go with amps I've sold, but I still have a EVM12L in my stuff.

Thanks guys,

yes, I was thinking it was a 15L but don't know if other EVs have this type of cage structure. I'll play with it a bit and see how I like it vs. the BW. I especially like the BW with my twin reverb, so this one may well stay int he Session 400.
