I have an Emmons LL2
I want to put clevis yokes on it instead of the L shaped pull rods I would like to know if anyone else has done anything like this before I intend on making this thing play better even though it plays really good I think I can improve it.
I made an Old Student Model Fender(Sho Bud) do some things that a guitar guy said couldn't be done..
Well I just didn't know that at the time I did it:).
Any Idesa greatly appreciated, Thanks Guys

Clevis yokes are what Jerry Clower used to tell. You know, Raynell, Udell, Marcel, Clevis & Claude.

I did look the fittings up and it seems they would add a lot of weight to a steel. You can just Google them or go to Mcmaster-Carr.

All joking aside, I see what Bill is getting at with the Clevis Yokes. It would allow him to achieve a similar "Type" system that MSA uses on their current model guitars. All pedal rods could be the same length and interchangeable. It would also allow pedal rod length adjustment from player's seated position. It could also be potentially a little quieter. Yes, there possibly could be an additional pound or so of weight added to the guitar.
Stay with it, Bill! That's what innovation and improvement is all about!

Cheers!
Benton

I can't picture it. Confused Seriously.

I adjust each pedal rod length for foot comfort. They are numbered so that it's easy to put each one in its proper place. Since I only do this adjustment once for each guitar, I don't see a big advantage in making the adjustment from the seated position.

More parts add more weight to guitar. More adjustments are more things that can get out of whack. Make sure that a problem exists before you develop a fix for it.

I have tried that, made them on my mill as small as possible and still had a problem with space especially when 2 be3llcranks are right next to each other and you are useing the same level hole on both cranks. Martin.

Go to a model/hobby shop, maybe they will have what you need, and you can look and maybe get a couple to experiment with...Bill

Pros:
- straight in-line pull
- no e-clips

Cons:
- bulky, (see Martin Weenick)
- spendy ($20 apiece)

Trade-offs:
- hitch pins vs. e-clips
- bent pull rod end vs. additional threaded end
- both types of rods need to be custom lengths for each cross-shaft

Has anyone ever tried swapping out the e-clips for hitch pins (like Zum)...or used those spring clips that Chuck Back makes.... on the LL2?

With all due respect to Martin, your work is "A#1", case in point, the blue one you just finished, waaaaay over the top.

With that said, there are those of us that, just gotta try it my way to prove to myself that it can/cannot be done. I have wasted $$ on projects, also have had things work out very well, Tony makes a good point(s).
