I would suggest contacting Elva West from Tradewind Guitars, he makes a very good Stringmaster clone, maybe he has a clue on how to fix those. Furthermore he lives in Fullerton I think, or in that area, that's for sure.
Keep us posted about what you find out, that's an important matter.

Thank you Bernard. I met Mr. West and showed him the guitar yesterday at the lap steel show at Jim Palenscar's shop (which was terrific) and he said he can definitely and easily fix it.
I also sent his web site, E-ddress and phone number to Bobbe Seymour's Steel Guitar Nashville, and Scotty's Music in St Louis.
