Oahu Iolana D-6 Lap Steel (sold)

Post by David Alexander »

This Oahu Iolana double six lap steel and case are in great condition. I've been told it is an early 50's model (serial X11577). I bought it from fellow forumite Dave Ristrim in 2007 and seldom play it so maybe someone else can use it. There's some small scratches where thumb picks have hit above the front neck. There's some small nicks in the plexiglass on the 5th frets of both necks and some small holes where some of the brass tacks that hold the plexiglass covers to the necks are missing that can be seen in the close up picture of the front neck. Some of those tacks are missing on the back neck also but they are still firmly attached. Some of the outside pictures show reflections of my overhead trees on the guitar but there is no green on it. The Valco strings thru pickups on this guitar are very clear and quite but get very dirty when run thru a distortion pedal or tube amp. I've always kept the front neck tuned to G and the back to E and have dobro guage strings on both. The price is $700 shipped to the lower 48. No trades please. PayPal OK if the buyer pays the fees.

Iolana

Post by Buck Dilly »

Iolana is Hawaiian for "hawk or to soar". I have one of these and it is a beautiful sounding instrument. On mine, one neck is slightly hotter than the other. I use that neck for the bluesy stuff. I really love mine. These are one of the best looking Supro/Valco/National D-6's. IMHO

This is a very good price for a wonderful instrument, IMHO.
