Just saw that the great Jr. Martin is now an official Forum Member. Welcome to the fold Jr. So glad to see you here.
Folks, this is one of Louisiana's steel guitar treasures who is very true to his heart's music soul. No one can play the true Cajun music any better-unless Buck Grantham is around.
And speaking of "around"-Buck has just confirmed to be at our DSSGA show in Gulfport on Aug. 6th. Jr. is working his scheduling status and hopefully he and his band will be able to make their appearance also. Hope this comes to pass with these two greatest Louisiana stylist musicians on our stage.
Welcome again Jr. Martin.
PS: Jr., I really enjoyed our Tuesday night jam at your Accordian factory recently. What a great bunch of steel players you had there. (And Pee Wee Whitewing was in the audience-another Louisiana Legend). WOW! Now, we here in Mississippi want to repay your wonderful hospitality. Really hope you can be here at DSSGA in Gulfport on Aug. 6th. Lots of free Mississippi seafood gumbo-we have to get even with you guys somehow and since we can not compete with you guys in the music field, we can sure stand our own in the gumbo field. Hope to see you soon. Thanks.

Junior is a great cajun steel player and he can teach us all how to play cajun music. In fact ,every time I get over his way I ask him to show me how to do it . I like the music very much and I play as close to the French sound as I can. Let's welcome Junior on here. He has been playing music longer than most of us. I recently had the privledge of going to Mr Jr. Martin's Steel Jam at his Famous Cajun Accordian Shop where he builds the world famous cajun Accordian. Along with Bill And Buck i agree you can not get treated any better than good ole Cajun hospitality. Mr Jr opened up the Floor to us and the show was on. The Backup Band there was tremendous and the steelers present, Joe Rodgers{BURAS} and Richard Comeaux did some mighty fine playing. We here on the Gulf Coast want to return the Hospitality, Mississippi style, back to the Louisiana Steelers by inviting them to the August Steel Guitar show Louisiana Style..we hope that all the guy's get to make it, So Mr Jr. We or Gearing up for the Big Celebration. and do not forget to bring Milton Gibeaux along..

Welcome Jr. Martin. I have learn more about Cajun Steel Pickin for Jr. than I did from anyone else.Most of us Cajun pickers grew up with Jr. Martin & Rodney Miller blaring over the radio every Sat. morning.Also Phillip Alleman whom has recently passed away.So welcome to the forum Jr. and hope to see you guys soon.

Junior and I went to college together: Jeffran College that is. I always enjoyed hearing him demonstrate his "popcorn" Cajun style to us. It'll be fun to reconnect with him here at Forumland. Welcome aboard Jr!

Welcome aboard the forum Junior. Between you and Buck, I'm sure we'll have some of the Cajun influences displayed here.
To those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Junior, do so as soon as you can. Junior is the consumate musician and he is at the top of a very short list of great cajun steel guitarist. What a player, and what a pleasure it is to share the stage with him when possible.
Glad you're on board Junior and I hope to see you soon.

I have been told by our mutual friend Milton Guilbeau, on many occasions what a fine person and musician you are ! I hope one day to meet you and I know that if Milton, Buck Granthum and others have these nice things to say about you, that they are 100% true as can be .

Welcome to the forum ! I know you will find this to be a fine place to visit and make new friends. There are a lot of good folks on this forum and I'm sure they feel as I do that another good guy is aboard !Enjoy !

Although we live one block apart and seldom communicate, this is the way to go now. Now be neighborly, my yard needs trimming.

Congratulations for joining and we expect you to be a contributor to this forum. Maybe you can explain how you tune your instruments; 'wet' for Zyedeco and 'dry' for Cajun. Right?

Jr. & I also attended middle school together.....our tent was in the middle of two others....

He majored in bellows and I minored in buttons....

Hey, is that a push/pull?.....

I met Jr. at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. That was in 2002...accordian to Jr........

I think I just killed Vaudeville....again!

Welcone Jr. If you have never heard the Cajun Style of steel, you are in for a treat, and Jr. is the best. He taught all the great Cajun players( Richard Comeaoux, Murnel Babineaoux) and many others. I was fortunate to attend Tim Cushenberry's Cajun Steel Shows a few years back an d Iloved that Cajun Steel.Jody.
