Ok, it's official. Doug is coming and he WILL be doing a seminar on Saturday, June 25th from 9:30 to 3:30. Still got room if you want get in on this. Seats for the seminar are $60.00. I've taken Doug's seminar before, a few years ago, and it's wonderful, but I'm signed up to get me another dose of it this year.

Ya'll just wait till you hear me play after this one.

If I get any more excited about this show, there'll have to be 2 of me to stand it.

Rich and Bobby, its sure good to see the post about steel radio being in East Peoria on the 26th. Glad they are broadcasting live. Sure a nice way to have many other steel guitar players and fans throughout the world experience whats going to be happening in East Peoria. You fellows along with others, many others, have lined up some great outstanding new things this year. Can't wait until next week and it all begins. Keep coming with all the surprises. Yep! I've been getting up early and practicing 30 minutes every morning! It's a great deal of pressure being the opening act for Dean Dobbins!!!
I guess I'll have to change my resume' now.
See you there!

Bobby was the first guy I met at Bill Stafford’s June 3rd and 4th Gulfport show.
He’s not only a good solid player, but he’s the one we all want for a next-door-neighbor . . . . . what a nice guy! Had a blast picking with him.

Bobby, good luck at your show, knock ‘em dead, wish we could be there.

Hey Larry,
Thanks for the kinds words my friend. I had a blast down there picking and meeting a ton of super nice folks too. Wish you and Tim could've made it up here this year. We have sure pulled out all the stops for a really nice show, including a few special treats that you don't normally see at steel shows. Be sure and catch it on SteelRadio if you can.
Folks, Larry was the staff keyboard player down at Gulfport, and did a heck of a job playing and singing, but he got bit by the bug while he was there and ended up buying a 12 string Excel from Bill S. before the weekend was thru. A super nice guy as well, and I'd love to be around to check his progress on the 12 string.
Larry, if you can make it up to our show next year, we'll book you a spot to play steel. With your musical background, I'm sure you'll have her singing by then.
Countdown is on, for a great show. The Friday night Pre-Jam show has been confirmed at the Eagles in Decatur. Bring your steel out there and join the fun. Hoping to work thru my 'stage-fright' out there.

As a native of rural Decatur I wish to thank Chrissy and others for having the jam at the Decatur Eagles. Her father and I played there many times before she was a gleam in his eye. He would be proud. Count me as a participant. Be good to see you again Bobby.

Thank you, Lyle. And I too am proud to be playing music all the time just like Dad did - and how cool to be playing with some of the same musicians HE played with years ago. Makes me pretty sentimental.

Looking forward to the jam Friday in Decatur and I'm so glad you're gonna be a part of it!

Everone's welcome.....the more, the better! Come on out! It will be a great time.

I remember when Chrissy played keyboard at the mall in Decatur and I was playing steel. We had a gig with Sondra and the Opry group. I just remember Chrissy with such a positive attitude, smiling and having fun. Her dad would have been so proud to see her then and even more importantly now taking on such big responsibility to make all the steelers sound as great as possible playing this coming Sunday. Hats off to all the musicians who want to stick their necks out and be the back up band to all the varied steel players from traditional music to not so traditional. Looking forward to meeting Lyle and seeing whoever else attends the Friday event. It will be eventful in its own way at the place many of us have played many times. Will be a great time both Friday and Sunday. I'm bringing my camera.

Yes indeed, this is destined to be a Great Show! Great Pickers! Great Staff Band! Great Room! And absolutely Great Hosts, IMHO!
You can come in and park free, stay at the Par-A-Dice Hotel, eat breakfast, lunch & dinner at the Par-A-Dice "Island Buffet", "Nelson's Deli" or the infamous "Par-A-Dice Steakhouse", see the Steel Show at the Par-A-Dice Hotel Ballroom, AND visit the Par-A-Dice Casino on the Riverboat and never have to move you car. Heck, you just can't hardly beat that with a stick!
This Sunday, June 26th, and the show will run until about 10:00pm this year as we have booked so much talent we can hardly get it all in, special guests too!!!

Don't miss it!!!

Oh, and if you're "sitting the fence" on this... Come on down off of that fence and get on down to the show. You'll be glad you did.

I know we've gotten off the subject of the main thang, the BIG SHOW IN PEORIA. Can't believe it's almost here. Gonna be a show no music buff should miss. What are we gonna do when it's over? Been lots of build up to it and for good reason. Thanks to everyone involved with CISGA for all your many many efforts in making this year one that will be tough to beat in '06 but I'm sure it will be done. Come hear the steel stylings of Doug Jernigan, Russ Wever, Don E. Curtis, Kenny Decker, Dyke Corson, Tim Harr, Billy Peddycoart, Gary Sill, Joe Fortune, Mark Wayne, Jerry Erickson, Dean Dobbins, Mike Webb, Darrell Cummings, Dale Thomas, Donny Vore, Bobby Duncan, Ron Riddle, and Jim Waddington, backed by a knocked out staff band which all IMHO will make it well worth your trip and the price of the ticket.

And of course, TONIGHT is the Pre-Show Jam at the Eagles in Decatur, IL. I'll be there on keys with one of our great staff drummers, Bo Bobell. Steel show veteran bass player Jerry Foley will too. Also heard from Lyle Clary, Bobby Duncan, Gary Sill, and Joe Fortune that they'll be bringing their steels. I'm certain there will be lots more pickers, I just know it. Have a feeling there might be a few surprise appearances if we're lucky. We'll all jam from 8-12 so come on out TONIGHT for a great night of music.

Seriously I hope you all have a great time. Just wish I could be there with you but I know you will all be cooking on all eight cylinders. See all of you on Sun.

Well, it is almost 5 o clock. Guess I better take a nap if I am going to be up till 12 o clock or so. Boy remember the good old days. Drive 50 miles to a gig playing 9 to 1 then the drive home. I guess some of you younger ones are still doing it.

Well now it is Sat morning at 8:30 and I am getting ready to head to Peoria to the hotel. Lots to do to get ready for the show tomorrow.

I had a couple of e-mail's that I tried to respond to but the addresses kept bouncing so I am going to address a few questions that have came up at the last minute.

1) Parking at the Par A Dice Hotel is free. It is a lot rather than a garage and plenty of free parking.

2) There will be food in the ballroom as well as a few places at the boat (next door to the ballroom) and a bar just outside the doors of the ballroom.

3) I was asked about pictures and recording in the ballroom. CISGA will be progessionally videoing and recording the show. We don't mind you taking pictures but prefer NOT to have videoing going on as some of the players have requested not to have that done. We will only vido the artists who give their permission.

4) Steelradio will be at the show but we still do not know how much will be broadcast live as we again have to get permission from each player.

Hope this answers some of the questions we have received in the past couple of days. Hope you all can join us and if not tune in to Steelradio.com!

Had a terrific time playing with all the guys and gals last night at the pre-show jam at the Decatur Eagles. Four steel guitars set up hub cap to hub cap. Some local musicians set in and played and sang some real country music. Kind of like the old days. Enjoyed Bo and Jerry Foley from up north and especially Russ Wevers, playing. See you all tomorrow.
