Patsy Cline on PBS

Earlier today, here at the PBS station in Las Vegas, I recorded a network feed of "Patsy Cline". The program will air at a later date.
Of particular interest to me is some of the vintage television footage of Patsy and her band.
I am not familiar enough with the musicians that worked with her to say who the steel players were, but there were a couple of segments that should be of interest to Steel players.
In one live sequence a dapper looking fellow takes a steel solo on "San Antonio Rose", playing C6th tuning on the outside neck of a Fender 1000. In another part you see this individuals hands playing E9th on the inside neck on "I Fall To Pieces". Does anyone know who this steel player is?

John, I thought that might be the case, but I was not sure that Curly ever played with Patsy Cline. If so, it’s some footage that I was unaware even existed.
As I said before, I do not know when this program will air. I do know that network sent down a standard version of the show, and a pledge version, with spots for breaks built in. Both programs timed out at around 42 minutes.
Even without the steel guitar shots this looks to be a good look at the career of Patsy Cline

I seem to recall reading on an earlier thread that the steel player for "I fall to pieces" was Ben (not Bill!) Keith, who later became a regular member of Neil Young's band. Now THERE's a contrast!

Is that the show titled "Remembering Patsy"?
If so, I picked it up on DVD at walmart for around $8.00
I need to take another look to see if it had the same clips as you mentioned above.

Edited to add: I watched it and didn't see anything you mentioned. The copyright date is 1993 with a recent additional update on the family....still it did have some great clips.

Jay, I believe that this is a brand-new program. As I said, it has not aired yet in this market, but I will check with the traffic department here at the station to see when we are going to air it.
In addition to the shots I mentioned I also saw a live TV sequence with someone playing a Fender StringMaster with her band. Again, I do not know who the steel player is, but the footage is quite good.

Not sure about the live TV performance mentioned here, but most all of her best recordings included the great SGHOF'er Walter Haynes, Hank Garland, and Floyd Cramer. What a terrific team!

I've gotten a chance to more carefully review the program at the station (we still have not aired it in this market). The title is "Patsy Cline, Sweet Dreams Still".
The entire program is composed of old television footage, which looks to have been digitally re-mastered. There are sequences with Jimmy Dickens, Ferlin Husky and Tex Ritter.
I'm fairly certain the steel player in the "San Antonio Rose" segment is Curly Chalker, but perhaps someone could confirm that.
Unfortunately, as was typical in those days, a lot of the music takes place off-camera. I thought I could recognize the guitar of Joe Maphis in one shot, and I could see Chet Atkins in another, but we never get a chance to see them play.
The program was written and narrated by Robert Oermann.
If nothing else, it was fun to see footage from music shows I used to watch as a kid.

That sounds like a very interesting program. If there is a clip of Patsy doing Walking After Midnight and I've Loved And Lost Again with Tex Ritter introducing her, those are from the Ranch Party shows and the steel player ( though not visible ) is Marian Hall. I've never seen the clips with the Fender 1000 guy, but I doubt it's Curly, he wasn't playing E9 at all back then. Nor it is Ben Keith who played a Sho Bud. If those are Patsy's appearances from the Town Hall Party ( did she ever do that? )then it'd be Billy Mize.

I received a pm from a Mr. Jimmy Walker, who lists himself as "Central KY's biggest Patsy Cline Fan". With his permission I will quote an excerpt from his message.

"Gary

The video you are asking about is a new one title "Sweet Dreams Still."
The video consist of different television shows patsy appeared on in her career. It is anthology of her career. Her husband Charlie was a consultant. He is former partners with the Producers, The Halls.

It will be released commercially in the fall with 3 additional performances.

The steel players will probably differ from program to program. San Antonio Rose and Pieces were from the Glenn Reeves estate and shot 4 or 5 days before her death."

We have still not aired this program in Las Vegas, but when it becomes commercially available I will certainly buy a copy.
