I will be in Lenox, MA. in June. I will have my video cam with me. I would be happy to come over to Bills house and video a song and post it on you tube.

Bill,

Can I ask a simple question: do you currently play out with other people in a band? Or are you, what we call, a closet picker. Someone who plays for their own enjoyment but not in front of a regular audience. When was your last gig?

BTW, i don't think there is anything wrong with either choice; to play out or to play in the house for the cats. I was just curious.

We do know that someone has heard Bill play, because there is a notification in an old thread thanking Bill and others for playing a steel guitar show.

Maybe someone who has heard Bill play his new way of playing can chime in?

Alan,You noticed that to ? If you try to pin Mr. Bill down to something specific he will change the subject or start speaking jibberish [which he's an expert at]. Like you mentioned he wants to test others,but refuses to test himself. Does that make a knuckle head or a hypercrit, OR a hypercritical knucklehead.

Indeed, I've had years of on stage experiences, including playing on the same show with Hal Rugg, Herb Remington, Winnie Winston, Jeff Newman, and several other excellent steel players. Sure, it's hard on the nerves, but I managed, thanks to a kind lady. When she noticed that I was becoming anxious, she said: "Don't worry, they are just a bunch of weekend "warriors", the same as you." For some reason, it gave me the confidence to play before an audience of 300 steel guitarists. In the eighties, I had offers from 6 different bands to join their groups. Twenty years of breathing smoke is admitting to a grave oversight on my part. I've never smoked on my own, but was subjected to thick smoky bars for over twenty years. That second hand smoke scare, hasn't affected my lungs, at least that I know of. A lot of getting hired at any line of work, unfortunately has shifted to youthful advantages. I'm semi-retired, but I'm scheduled to make a few guest appearances this month and next by local bands.
If the gentleman who offered rhythm tracks would reemerge, I'd like to obtain an uptempo version of "Rocky Top", (Tennessee) (In the key of A) and "The same tempo of You Tube's Jimmy Day's recording and video of; "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down". (Key of D) Don't spare the horses!

June will be a busy month for me. I appreciate the offer. Stephen, when will you be here, and for what length of time? Do you know someone in Lenox, MA? It sounds like an interesting offer. When Randy Travis asked Carrie Underwood, "Would you like to be the Opry's newest member", she replied, "Let me think about it." Who would think? There is plenty of time to respond to this offer. When I first read Bill Hankey's posts, I thought he was just a bad writer, trying to impress us by using big words and fancy pseudo-syntax he really didn't understand.

Then I went through a period where I thought he was just playing a huge joke on all of us.

But now I have started to worry about him. Brother Bill, are you okay? Got a job? Got a home? Got a family? Got a band? Playing any music? Mental health okay? I'm worried about you!

I'd suppose that you having all those things would never consider swinging by my place to check things out. You claim to travel just a short drive from Pittsfield, MA when you visit in Vermont. You are most welcome to check some things off your list. Allow me to check out things on your side of the fence. Try to remember to bring your steel. Your Spanish guitar work would be of special interest to me also.

Semicolons are useful; I've noticed more recently; particularly when messages exasperate contentious individuals who must be a joy to confer with on a one to one premise. If I had written, "I've considered new approaches to these stubborn modifications; they tend to weary an expressed desire to speak out", it would not have opened the door to criticism; from my perspective. I've completed crash courses in punctuation marks, and turned back upon finding discrepancies with those teaching the rules. I learned without too much difficulty, that there is a conflict between published material in hardcover books, and the methods of teaching the "rules" at colleges. Looking back on the lack of literateness among large percentages of the population, dispenses with any hope for a recovery by accepting current trends to sensationalism.

Would you be willing to partake in a few rounds of sparring with realities by getting cued into the real purpose of this forum? It's entitled The Steel Guitar Forum! Numerous folksy members such as CHRIS SCHLOTZHAUER and his protruding accomplice have razed the urge to further a serious confab on the subjects relative to the pedal steel guitar. I'm concerned with "new" "stuff", (Borderline English) rather than that familiar sneaker groping for the ABC pedals.

Why did you hide your post to me in this thread where the likelihood of my finding it was slight at best? Regardless, it is not I who should remember what this forum is about. I ask questions related to the steel guitar. I don't answer many because I know that compared to many of these guys, I am a very inferior player. That being said, I would gladly engage in discussions with you if you could refrain from bombastic rhetoric and exaggerated hyperbole (talk about a redundancy).
