Hey all,
I've been meaning to put this up for a while, it's my Hawaiian steel rendition of the classic Jobim piece Chega De Saudade ("No More Blues").
Just recorded this morning with much Aloha and for your listening pleasure. Hope you enjoy it.
The MP3 is found on the following page along with a video of Gilberto playing the song live:

Aloha,

Thanks for the comment Doug!
Jazz, bossa and Hawaiian music are a match made in heaven, imho.
This particular tune came out sounding a bit surf-ish to my ears, but of course I'm biased

Bossa Nova on steel is a way under explored combo and a great match. Nice tune, Josh. |

Thanks so much for listening and commenting, guys.
As a side note, one of the reasons I put this together was originally for sight reading practice.
I like to include sight reading (ie, playing/performing "cold" from notation) in my daily routine as a way to master the fretboard/tuning.
This song was a challenge to read, to say the least, because of the many different positions available for the well-endowed melody.

Hi Josh,
Nice tune with a great groove/ melody. You're right-it does have that surf/noir sound.
