All you Portland folks should know that I'll be up to my usual fumbling tricks with the very fine Mr. Keeter Suart and Co. Thursday June 23 at Duff's Garage.

The usual formalities will apply.

The presence of rude steelers in the audience will no doubt be considered a sign of a successful marketing effort, particularly if they buy the band a few drinks.

Hope you'all can make it. If not, the same cast of characters will also be playing the Tualatin Commons on July 1 and Lents Park on August 7 - both free events, but that's another topic....

I will certainly try, I'm not as yet gigging that weekend, probably to change, but regardless, I might be able to make a "Lonesome Rags" sighting from the sounds of it.

I will try to bring enough rudeness to make up for any absent players, but if too many show up, I don't have enough self restraint to make up for the overage.

Looking forward to it.

Hope to see you there, Eric, it's our first public outing and we should have a pretty good time.

Keeter writes and sings a lot of very fine material. His grand-dad wrote "Ghost Riders in the Sky" so of course we play that one every night. There's a few country classics from the way-back machine and a few obscure tunes from the modern era, if I'm lucky the band will remember to include "Bud's Bounce."

With Kenny Sawyer on drums and other grown-ups all around this has been a fun project so far - there's an electric guitar in the mix but lots of room - maybe too much room - for me to show off my bad intonation - it's not exactly JI OR ET and hopefully it won't just sound like PP (I don't mean "push-pull" here, either) - and years of collected half-baked ideas.

I'll post further notice of the parks gigs when they are looming large.

Haven't seen hide nor hair of Rags for many moons, if you can find him and lassoo him drag him on down for old home night.

I've got it pencilled in my calendar. I'll be the well-behaved guy trying to keep Eric from being too rude. C Ya there Dave!

Cool, Doug, I know I can always count on you to behave. Like something, anyway....

Hopefully you can hang out a bit longer than I could the last time I came to see YOU play there....

Don't worry about Eric, he's doing the very best he can. He's really not a bad guy at all once he takes off his hat.

The lineup Thursday night will be:

Keeter Stuart up front with guitars and lead vocals - NW old-timers will remember him as the front man for Trigger's Revenge

Danny Miller - guitars and backing vocals

Ron Weber - bass and backing vocals

Kenny Sawyer - drums and vocals - still one of the tastiest drummers anywhere, some may remember him from his days with NW favorites Wheatfield

Myself playing my old Pro I and NOT singing (which is a total relief to all concerned)

Rose Stuart will be providing additional vocals

That's the band, we are having a ball, so if you're in the neighborhood come out and hang with us. Duff's Garage is a great place, great folks and good old American music every night. They have a full bar and an outdoor patio - if you live in NW Oregon or SW Washington and haven't been there it's high time to check it out.

Just made definite plans to be there. Anybody that gets a chance should attend.

I miss the old "Euphoria" crowd.

Back when.......

Now if I can just get this "blind" email thing down and notify the world.....

This will be the debut gig for a brand new band, with about a dozen rehearsals or so under our belts. Rehearsals are starting to really smoke at times, there sure is nothing like a bunch of old guys getting together to play some goooood music.

I'll post a rehearsal clip soon as I can get it transfered to my hard drive.

Right-o, got that email thing all figured out, some of you'all will be gettin' a note if I did it right...

Now, Friends and Countrymen, lend me your ears -- here's a couple of clips from last week's rehearsal - please be kind and bear in your mind that we only recorded this as a learning aid and that's because we still need one. If you don't hear a lot of bad notes you're just not listening hard enough.

Nothing Left to Lose

Utah

All songs written and performed by Keeter Stuart. Recorded in rehearsal, West Linn, Oregon 6/8/05

I'll post a topic in electronics about our ground-breaking recording technique.
