OK, I give up. What year is it? Or about what year?
Serial number 6537. Double neck p/p. Not an early model due to its non-Kluson tuners and narrow pedals.
I do not believe it is a "reissue".

Hi Eric,
Well, I'd guess about 1982 without seeing it. I looked over Mike Johnson's '82 "Big Red" Emmons #6540 a couple of years ago and took several photos of it.

| that's weird because the emmons p/p 1981 numbers end in the 2900's. also..no D after the number on mike's. |

I think 1982 was the year that the PPs went to the 6000 series numbering system. My #6620 is a 1983 guitar.

I once owned a D-10 p/p and it was s/n 6437D.
I took it to be a 1983 model. It had the LeGrande style pedals. |

Thanks for the info! A few more questions...........
When was the last year Emmons made push-pulls?
Why did they decide to go to a 6000-series for serial numbers? Rather than simply continue the number sequence they had in place?
Why can't Emmons' student models be dated by their serial number? (They do have a serial number, right? |

Eric,
I just received an email from Bobbie at Emmons Guitar. She states the following from their records:
"it was shipped in 1982 with 8 pedals, 5 knees and was derby red"
It never hurts to give them a call, as they have records of most of the guitars they have built.
