MASGA Kannapolis jam

Post by Joey Gaskins »

What a great time the MASGA members and guest's had Saturday and Sunday. We were treated to some of the best steel guitar playing I've heard in some time. Players such as Clyde Mattox, Tony Prior, Joe Turner and others made the 450 plus mile roundtrip worth while. Thanks to all who helped put on a great show for the fans and players alike. Thank you ER, Carl, and Wifes
A big thank you for the promoters of the Fantastic MASGA Jam in Kannapolis NC. ER Chandler,Carl Epling and their wifes did it again. They just seem to have the ability and put forth the necessary hard work when it comes to putting on a great Jam/show for everyone to enjoy.

We can't say enough about the Mckoy Bros back up band. Just a super bunch of guys to work with.

To the best of my knowledge everyone had a wonderful time. The audience was great with about 150 people in attendence. We had approx 20+ steelplayers and some more came on Sunday that couldn't make it on Sat.

I can't leave out the super shows both Sat and Sun by Clyde Mattocks and the Malpass family. The Gang at the St.Louis Steelguitar convention this year are going to be amazed and speechless when Chris Malpass performs all those wonderful Hank Williams tunes with Don Helms at the Steel. What a show thats going to be. The folks here just shook their heads in amazement at his talent and sound alike of Hank Williams.

A big thank you goes out to Joe Smith for his fantastic C-6 seminar. He had approx 30 people set in on his seminar.

I want to thank ER and Carl for sponsoring another Great MASGA Event and for the opportunity to allow me to MC this great Jam and Show again.

If you missed this event be sure to make the next one that ER Chandler, Carl Epling and their wifes promote. I promise you! You won't be sorry.

The fantastic Steelplayers that performed for Showtime were: Chuck Campbell, Joe Turner, Arnett Mills, Tony Arrowood, Glen Lanning, John Foster, Clyde Mattocks, Johnny Murray, David Dellinger. I hope I didn't miss anyone. Everyone will have to agree this show was great.

I hope everyone that see this post and was there will make a reply about this great Jam/show.

Another Great Jam and Show!!!

Great show with great talent. I would like to add a couple of comments to everything mentioned in the previous messages. The facility is such a wonderful place for this type of entertainment. There is always plenty of room to play our guitars, and great food & drinks for everyone. ER & Carl good job, and we all appreciate your wives that set up front with so much patience to invite everyone in with a smile. Most of all thanks to everyone for allowing me to play a couple of songs and not "booting" me out the door. I do Love the Steel Guitar and especially all the friends I have made along the way in this organization, I do miss a special friend Jerry Fleming and his great talent. It's also been very nice to share this Love of music with my Dad as well.

I echo the above. A highlight was the steelers playing with the band on Saturday night. Tony Arrowood, Arnett Mills, Clyde Mattocks, Joe Turner; it doesn't get any better.
Some other players in attendance: Alan Howington, Tony Prior, Vernon Hester, David Wall, Russ Kerns - And I hope I included everyone.
I will update the website as soon as I accumate pictures of the jam.
Thanks to ER, Carl, & their wives for a great jam!

Hi All,
I would surely like to echo all the good things mentioned about the Kannapolis Jam It was really a great one.
I made a 12 hour video of the jam. I came out real good with the lighting and sound being what it was.I took orders for 34 taspes at $5.00 each .I guess I will get them transfered to VHS and edited.

Ya`ll forgot Ernie Tuttle amoung the steelers that played,I would say his playing was excellent and certainly deserves recognition.I am sure it was just an oversite.Just my 2 cents worth.

Glen,
Good to see all you fine folks on Saturday. Another great Jam. I did not do to well .Using a new amp system and only had 1 ch working , must be old age or something. Anyhow they were some good pickers there and it was a enjoyable jam.
