I came back to Portland in 73', hung out at the Nashville West a lot with Pete Martell and Ellis Miller and Steve and Bob Sloam. I was just getting started playing steel and would go to the afternoon jam session and play 4 sets and then stay awhile for the night time session and play even more.
I became close to Danny Shields at the time and was even in a band with him playing steel. I was steel info hungry and bugged Pete almost daily.
See you Sunday.

2 days and counting. Scott bring your best licks, if you are planning to keep up with Tony and Mark and Harley and Doug and Lynn and Dan and Eric and Paul and Wayne and Bob and Dave and Rick and Pete and Jerry and Mitch and Tucker and Brian and Twain and Kurt and Robin and Stu and Ben you are going to need to bring your A game. This is not a competition but you know how it is, you want to put your youthful speed to the test.
I am bringing a new Telonic Volume pedal if anyone wants to give it try.

Man I am so stoked and looking forward to this!
I am already scared and love it
Nobody should be worried about their playin. Even if you studied the tunes for hours and played your very best and a beam from heaven came down and gently touched you on the shoulder while you were playing, there will still be twenty guys in the room that can smoke you on any given tune
Its not really about the playin anyway, for me.
Everyone, please introduce yourself! I want to meet you all and talk to you and check out your rigs.
I'll be the red bearded dude who totally flunked up Crazy Arms or whatever
Mech workshop still on and what time if so?

Larry - I plan on bringing an electric drum set instead with triggers programmed to play various Buddy Emmons licks come my turn.... work smart, not hard, right?
actually, I'll bring my trailer hitch and count on gettin' a tow from all the talent in the room
Looking forward to it! Is there an official "final count" I have some goodies I was going to bring.

No official count as some will just show up and set up, the count was just to give us an idea of who and how many might come. Last time we had about 30 players and 10 more that did not set up but could have if they had their gear.
I personally expect more this time to play. It does not get better than this, OK if Buddy was there that might make a small difference.

It is really great to see all the fellowship and excitement that this event is generating. It will be great to also hear all the great music that will be played Sunday afternoon! Thanks in advance to all of you who have put forth so much effort in setting all this up, to make it the success it will be. I plan to bring some items for sale, if there is room to do so:
Goodrich (low profile) volume pedal (model L-65?) -- with spare pot
De Armond volume pedal (1956 ish brown crinkle finish)
Alesis Drum Machine model HR16 (16 bit machine), instructions, & wall wart
Kay 5 String Banjo (~1975) W/case, strap, strings, instr. matl.-- hardly played
Hercules 3 instrument stand
Steel Guitar and Country CD's
I also have 2 rack systems that I plan to sell along with 2 custom speaker cabinets loaded with 15" JBL D130F's sometime. While I do not plan on bringing them Sunday, I would be happy to talk to anyone interested in them, about the particulars.

Enjoyed the jam.
Had a great time at the jam today. Thanks to everyone involved in setting it up and to everybody who took a little bit of time to show this newbie around. Looking forward to seeing you all again next time.
