Lap steel guitar stands by Mark Roeder - Wow!
In Dallas last month I got a chance to meet Mark Roeder and his wife Kristy. Mark was displaying his new steel guitar stands and also singing and playing with Kristy.
I was very impressed with his stands (and the singing and playing).
I ordered one and it arrived last Wednesday.
It's fantastic. It is sturdy, lightweight, good looking and it all fits into a compact carrying case!
It fits both my Fender Champion and Bakelite Rickenbackers like a charm. The stand holds the guitar at the proper angle and the non-slip material on the arms is truly non-slip.
I'll use it on my gig this Saturday.
Get one of these stands.

Thanks for all your positive coments. It is a pleasure to make something that really serves a need out there. It started as something just for my own steel.
Here is a retro ad I patched out of old graphics.

Here is the newest version that Mike had mentioned.
It has the guitar at a ten degree angle, which I like for myself. I've made a few this way for other players that like their guitar tipped. People in the audience have commented that they like seeing what I am playing on the angled stand.

That's a well-designed stand and I'll be interested in ordering one, too. Right now, I have a National and a Fender with good felt and they don't slip, lap-style. But I've got a really slippery no-felt walnut Tremblay. I was thinking of going Velcro--couple of patches on the guitar and a couple of patches on my jeans. (Just kidding and somebody already thought of it, I'm sure.) Appreciate good design and that stand is a winner. Time to get up on two feet and play standing.

Hi Mark!
Would your stand work with Weissenborn acoustic lap steels to, and if so, I take it (from reading Howard's post above) that the stand could be adjusted to fit much more narrow electric lap steels too?
Cheers,
Fred

I can make one for acoustic instruments. I have made a dodro stand that worked out well. Unfortunatly I forgot to take photos. The challenge would be to make one that works for both acoustic and electric. I am thinking on that one. It is easier with lap steels because the plain that the body and neck are on is closer.
