Louisburg, KS. Middle Creek Opry........ Thank You

Post by Dana Stewart »

Just wanted to say thank you to Bill and Brenda for having Austin be a part of their show. We had a wonderful time. Elijah, Carl, Brad, and Dave (Hope I got all those names right) made all the steel players shine.

Thanks to Dan and Rick Duling for coming over and helping Austin out with his Saturday set.

Great picking and a fun day.

Glad you could make it. I too want to thank Bill and Brenda for putting this together and hosting the show at the Middle Creek Opry. Austin Stewart's and Jerry Newbury's sets each day were both fantastic. It is dedicated steel guitar families like yours that really help shows like this. Glad you guys drove that nice big bus up here to the Kansas City Area and participated in the show. I believe Bobbe DeMoss will be posting some pictures!

The Middle Creek Band was absolutely fantastic all weekend. Those guys just made you play. I had a ball. I especially appreciate Russ Wever playing bass on my set and Dave Owens singing on my set. What an awesome voice the guys has!

There was sure no shortage of talent and good music. And Austin, you totally blew us away with your verzion of Buddy Emmon's "Plus Nine". I can't wait until next year.

Awesome Show in Louisberg, Kansas -Stay Tuned for Pictures

Post by Bobby DeMoss »

Well if you didn't make it, you really missed out on some of the finest Steel Guitar picken ever.
The staff band was totally awesome. The owners Bill and Brenda are still the best. And the facility is the finest setup to be had for Steelers to perform in.
Doug played sooooooo fine. He just gets faster with age I think. What touch and tone to the bone.
He's the man.
If you haven't heard Austin lately, you need to because he played some very advanced stuff.
Totally awesome Austin.
Brad Rigby I may have taken over your old job but you still can out sing me any day. You sounded great on Steel too and your talent was appreciated by all.
Of course Fred is still one of the finest players today, he's unconscious on that Justice steel. Dont wake up Fred cause your playing some awesome new fresh approach stuff. The man has awesome tone and touch. Your seminar was greatly appreciated and well accepted by all the students that attended.
All you players on the show, just to mention a few, Roger Hurst, Jerry Newberry, Jerry Foster, Cliff Waterman, Hank Ruff, Wes, Clovis, Richard and too many to mention here on this post. AWESOME JOB.
It was great to see Bruce Zumsteg there also.
Thanks to every body who attended this years Kansas Steel Guitar Festival.
I will have pictures posted tomorrow evening for all of you.
A very sincere THANKS to everybody for making this year a very wonderful experience for the Steel Guitar community.

I have a feeling that Bobby DeMoss was the real force behind the great Steel Guitar Show at Louisburg this past weekend.

Bobby is always so reserved and humble but sure lets it all hang out when he gets behind his steel. It would take more than money to get Bill & Brenda Harris to take a financial risk like they did for the the first event.... and Bobby was behind it.

Bill & Brenda are absolutely the nicest people and their beautiful theater was obviously designed from the ground up with the musicians in mind. And I'm also sure it was Bobby DeMoss who motivated the guys in that awesome backup band. A long weekend for Elija Chastain & Carl "Crow" Butler on lead guitars, Brad Meadows on drums, and the great Dave Owens on upright bass.

Another highlight of the weekend was certainly hearing Kenny Burford, just back from Iraq, get up and sing a couple of songs.

Yes Roger, we all owe Bobby DeMoss a "Thank You!". What a fine man and player.

I had no idea Kenny Burford sang. I have known him for a few years now and he kept that little fact quiet. Hearing him sing was a highlight for me. Great job Kenny!!!

Once again, we had a great time. Thanks to everyone who had a part.
