This is a little ditty that I resurrected
from a few years ago and after some revising
recorded it again today.
It is solo chord melody which I think the
Leavitt tuning is well suited for and I hope
more people will give it a try when considering
alternate tunings.

The pic hereunder shows how simple
to change from C6th tuning to Leavitt.
I encourage those who have not tried
this great tuning to give it a shot.
This is the set up for the clip I did
as the subject of this thread.

Hi Roy,
Which strings would I or could I, dispense with for a 6 stringer? Is this a G tuning, with two Gs?....I suspect it is. And.......pardon my newcomer ignorance......who is/was Leavitt?

Hi John,
For a six stringer just drop the
bottom 2 strings A and G which leaves
you with..
D--C--Bb--G--E--C# High to Low
The first 5 strings are a full C9th chord
and the bottom 4 a dim7th. That's just a
start...it is much more.
If you do a Google search for Bill G. Leavitt
you will find out all about this man. Unfortunately
he is no longer with us.

That's a separate tone for each string for me!
I think the available combinations will be enormous - that said - I will wait until I get some tuition under my belt before experimenting however. |
